Tusk Billet Gas Cap
« on: February 21, 2009, 11:57:12 PM »
Maybe a stupid question but I'll ask it anyway.. I purchased a tusk billet gas cap for my Rap 700 the cap and stem were not together when i received it.  I put the stem on the cap with a little WD40 because it was so stiff.  Now it comes off very easy.  What do you guys that have the tusk cap do to keep the stem from falling off?  Glue it? Or just order a few as back up?
Thanks as always guys.

i have the tusk gas cap and my vent stem never comes off. it's probably because you lubed it to get it on. i would say take it off clean the WD-40 off the cap and cut the vent pipe back about a 1/2" and then just ram that thing on there. i had to use a little force but it went on.

I just put my breather tube on...what a pain in the ass !!! The stock hose is much more pliable than the new breather tube I got. The stocker would slip on no problem, but this aftermarket one has been a real pain in the ass. Finally, I put the tube under some boiling water for a while, and let that soften the rubber, then slid it on. ( Kinda like a mouthguard if ya ever played football...)

and....it was STILL a bitch to do....
