What are your tips on buying a "new to me" car.

As the title says, I am going to probably be trading my wifes car in on a almost new (2007) Tahoe, Yukon, Armada or LR3 in the next week or so.  I am obviously better off selling it but I just can not seem to sell it over the last few months.

Last time I bought a car, I tried using KBB or NADA as a general guide for valuation on rigs.  At the dealership they basically took the stance that these were totally bogus.  I understand I will get a trade in value for her car (2003 Passat with 94K miles) but dont want to get totally screwed and hate sitting there for 5 hours dicking around just to make them work to get to a reasonable price.

If anyone has any great proven ideas or places I can get a good idea of what I can expect for trade in and price I would appreciate it!

well you could blue book the value of your car. and then if one dealer doesn't give you at least close to that value for trade on a new car get up and walk out. if they don't try to stop you then they didn't really want to sell to you anyway. last time i walked out a dealer he almost tackled me tring to get me to buy the peice of shit he was selling to me. lol

Dealer will jack with trade in value and up the sale price occasionally to get you to buy. Watch carefully. If they offer you a lot more than the trade books for, they might be asking too much for used car..No offense to FLynbyu, but I have seen it done a few times.  ALl I can say is go over the car with a fine tooth comb before buying, especially being that it is a GM vehicle. But it is a truck, so not so bad.
