Clutch wire ring

Can you leave the fine wire ring (4X7-16385-00-00) out of the clutch and will it still work ok without it in there?

I don't know nothing about it ..... but if the part came with it wouldn't it be needed?  It's late and Ive been drinking...

it is needed if you use the stock clutch config.
I eliminated it along with all smaller friction plate and spacer, and used one of larger friction fiber plates.

Kinda YFZ clutch mod.
