Yeah....GM is hurting, and Chrysler isn't doing much better.

On the credit side, GM is buying stronger than Chrysler Financial, but Gm's rates are much higher than Chrysler's.

Our GM sales were strong last month due to the perception of "I'm getting a better deal with employee pricing". GM did a great job blasting that on TV, however you could and can STILL buy a Dodge for much less than a GM auto wth all the rebates and dealer cash Dodge has.

I honestly think it won't happen, but you never know in today's market.

The big 3 have lost sales to imports & too many vehicles get reasonably poor fuel milage.  I hope they don't merge . . .

Havn2muchfun

The deals out there are great. Just got a great deal on an 08 ram for my wife. Can't see a true merger, way to much crossover in their vehicle line's.
So many upgrades, so little money.

Krandall

wow.. What's a company like that worth?
Think we can pool together some cash?  ???

We just got a price increase.....

I ordered a 2009 Challenger R/T for a friend today and it cost $550 more than my spec sheet I did four days ago.

Jackasses.

Just a little 81hp trail bike.

so...then we merge two companies that lose money and make subpar vehicles? Great business plan

chrysler/gm new slogan:

"Together we can make worse vehicles and lose more money"

I think GM's on the right track with their autos. They have more fuel efficient vehicles than any US company. Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep need some serious help in this area. IF there was a merger, It would be a huge step in the right direction for Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep. Chrysler's credit rating is much better than GM's and this would benefit GM.

Agreed.....but they still make the cobalt? wtf     GM is tanking, and Chrysler still has $. I hope it works. The Sears/Kmart merger came to mind. Combining two sinking ships just means more water to bail out.

Makes sense when you put it like that
What are the odds of it happening  ???

Flynbyu

I would say there is a small chance at this point, especially since the bailout package was passed.

I got a letter from GMAC yesterday that said they won't buy any application sent to that was under a 700 credit score. If it was a 700 or better score, GMAC would only advance the dealership 100% of invoice at a MAXIMUM of 60 and no more unless it was an incentivized rate (Example: 2.9% for 72 months). This policy is effective immediately and will stay in effect until GMAC recieves funds from the bailout.

What this means is this....If you're upside down, you're going to need CASH. If you have marginal credit, GMAC won't loan you money. If you are on a car with no rebate (Example: Corvette family) you're going to need a lot of money down or use another finance source other than GMAC to secure financing.
