question about foam filters.
« on: September 01, 2008, 08:57:19 PM »
i know i know i have swore by my K&N for as long as i have had it. but like many have found there is small dirt particles down the throttle body throat. i am nervous about this. there was not alot but enough to make me nervous. so my question is does anyone make a foam filter that will work with the trinity intake adaptor i have? or is there a foam sleeve for the K&N filter i have?

If your going with a foam it needs to be a "Twin Air" hands down.

Here ya go. You might go to their chart and find one that is the same dimensions as the K&N you are using, so that you can have the same air flow. They will have a clamp on that'll fit. The yfz one is 4.5"w and this one(TA158801) is 4.75"w.  This one is close.

I have the pro-design foam for my beast, it has the main filter piece, and then a "pre-filter" foam sock that fits over the real filter.

I agree, Twin air is a really good airfilter. Probably the best foam out there.

How is the twin air for flow though? ???

The better it keeps dirt out, the more it restricts.

I found this, not sure how it compares to the others

*Standard Twin Air dual-stage foam filter has 45 pores per inch (PPI) on the outer     and 60 PPI on the inner foam

*Total thickness of the foam layers when bonded together equals 15mm

*Twin Air foam layers are not glued together, they are laminated

*The lamination process does not restrict airflow between the two layers

*Twin Air foam is open cell polyester foam

I've been more than happy w/ my pro-design one. I'll take some pics of it this weekend when I get up there.

I like all the foam filters on the market... Stock, Twin Air and Uni all do their job by keeping the dirt out. If you wanted to order 3 replacement Uni filters (2 for spares) I can do 59.00 shipped. If you wanted just one 36.00 shipped.

That is a good price Kenneth. Can you order any size Uni filter If I get you a part number? I am considering the FCI intake (if they will just sell me the tube/box) and getting 1-2 of the Uni's (would need to be a pretty big filter, which I can sort out through Uni)

Also, I shot you an email about the Houser arm status (should be at my house any day!) so was curious about the Motowoz shock status (if they figured out the needed length, and if they have an ETA on them). You can pm me if you wish so we dont clog up this thread.
