I've got a 2005 F350 and pull a 30 foot toy hauler. What weight-rating tow rope should I have? The highest local stores carry is 5000-pounds - seems like it would snap if I got stuck in the sand and needed a tug.

What weight rope do y'all use for your rigs?

i would think you should just get a strap. i don't know much about ropes. but i know they are really nice if you get the right one.

Go to a local truck stop and get a semi truck strap. They are pretty cheap and alot safer than chains. Have you ever been around when a chain broke?

Take the weight of the truck and trailer and double it for the tow stap rating.
Just a little 81hp trail bike.

I use a 2" recovery strap but they make 3" straps too. If in doubt, double it with a shackle!

It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.

I have seen a chain come loose and make one hell of a dent in a tail gate!  :bash:

Chains are scary stuff. I've seen one explode. Shrapnel went flying everywhere.
The tailgate was the least of my worries.

We were towing a car up the hill. It was a 67 Ford Fairlane. The frame was rotted out. so it was a beyotch to tow up the hill. Chain broke, snapped back and shot through the windshield. luckily didn't hit me. but scared the F*CK out of me.. I pooped my pants.

boooooooo chain ive seen these fail on too many times in person. seen several people hurt ALWAYS USE A STRAP!!! the chain may be a little stronger but there is really no way to tell how stressed the chain is, and if that chain snapped it would do a lot more damage than a strap. i wouldnt want to see someone get hurt. just double back a strap using a celvis  your unclebeaner wouldnt lie to you
