Do you change your own tires?

Anyone out there changing your own tires?  Got a good method to break the bead and set it on the new one?  Or should I just throw the $ away to have it done?

Unless you have a professional tire machine save yourself the headace and take it to wallmart. The only way I've been able to break a bead is placing a 2x6 at the lip and driving up it with a truck. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. Even if you do get the bead broke, you're gonna fight getting the tire off the wheel and most likely screw up the rim.

i own a manual tire changer, cost me 100$.  If you plan on doing alot of tire changes i suggest investing in one, easy to use one you understand the principles.  if this is a one time ting, or a once a year thing, just take it to a tire shop

I am having a buddy of mine break the bead at his shop.  Assuming I am successful at removing the old tire and putting the new one on, is there anything I should do other than clean it very well before resetting the bead?  Anything I should put on there??  Or just clean it and fill it with air?  Thanks again, you guys are great help.

I hit the bead of the tire with steel wool or some light grit sand paper.....just a habit, not totally necessary......take a good look at your valve stem while the tire is off. replace if you want. they're like 2 bucks.

other than that, nothing big really. If theyre directional, check twice, then mount

I have one too and love it. I just mounted my new set of RazrII's on a new set of DWT Ultimates. I have changed several tires including a set of trailer tires on 16" wheels.

I change my tires all the time and it's a pain in the a$$!!  I hope the new Rock B Lock rims will be better than stock..

The biggest problem I have is breaking the bead......  My local shop started charging me $5 a piece to change them so I don't mess with ATV tires anymore just do out streetbike tire.

Mine has a bead breaker built into it, works great !
