which tire is better?
« on: April 11, 2010, 08:28:34 PM »
OK, I have been doing a lot of reading on tires and have narrowed my choices down to two. I am moving back to the midwest soon so I will need a good trail tire. I am a little torn between the Maxxis Razr 2 and the ITP Holeshot GNCC's. I like the fact the GNCC's are a few pounds lighter each but how do they compare to the Razr 2's? Let me know any opinions or horror stories. Thanks!!!

maxxas uses a harder tread compound so they last longer than the soft holeshots. however, the gnccs have a very spaced out lugg pattern on them so they are a good self cleaning tire. and they are very light, and hook up great. probably the best tire ive had experience with. i run the i-razrs on my 350 and like them too, but i think the holeshot gnccs are a better tire.

I run different fronts/backs.

I was never a fan of the GNCC rear tires. I know there's a few others that can back me up on this. But the XCR rears are amazing!!! They are a softer tire compound, but not overly soft to where they'll wear out to fast. For the fronts I run the GNCC's. Like Exentix said. The GNCC's are amazing @ cleaning themselves out when playing in the mud :)

Welcome back Ex! :)

razr2's last longer travis. I heard GNCC's are lighter though.

I run holeshot HD's. Tons of grip. Expensive and heavy though. My lawn hates them

I dont understand wherepeople say the gncc's where out to quick ??? I have had mine for a year and a half with alot of riding in different conditions and still 3/4 tread. i ride mud, rough rocky trails, occasional dirt/paved roads, and tons of hill climbing in treverton coal hills
