Is Fox Airframe still the way to go?

I need a chest protector and consensus used to be that Fox Airframe was the only way to go for big guys. Is that still the way to go?
I'm 6'4" and weigh 270 pounds.

Also, what's the difference between the airframe and raceframe?

Please and thanks.

I'm not a big guy, but I know Erich loves his AirFrame. He talks that thing up and down.
I have a thor.... (forget what theirs is called now that I think of it) I got it on sale at dennis kirk, I like it and it's very comfortable.

Can backpacks be worn over chest protectors?

Sorry for such a 'greenhorn' question. I've never worn a chest protector before but have forced my son to for two years. He called me out last night: "Dad, how come I have to wear safety gear you don't?"

*BUSTED*

You sure can!

My thor I put my camelback pack over the outside of it. I had to loosen the straps a bit to compensate, but it's very comfy,, and I don't get a sweaty back from the camelback either anymore

Sure can, I wear my backpack over my airframe.  And Randy is right, I LOVE my airframe. I'm 6'8' 280 and its the best thing out there.

Peelz

E is big enough to need his own air frame too. think spruce goose
Krandall: "peelz. I'll be real with you. As much as I hate on you for soccer, I really don't mind it"

Hardluckhero

I've used zip ties in the past to attach my backpack to my roost deflector/ chest protector and it works pretty good as well.
