Avast! free edition or AVG has worked well for me in the past

Lady4Fiddy

I have AVG Free 8.5, Spybot-search and destroy, and spyware blaster. The latter two I got from my mom's friend who had a computer repair shop and he didn't charge me for any of it so I don't know what their cost would be.

The AVG is what I use on a daily basis, I hardly use the others unless I am having major issues with my computer.

Hope this helps!

Symantec Endpoint on vista/7.  Avast on win xp, spybot S&D on xp only.  If I ever get a virus on vista/7 I will put malwarebytes on it.

Hefe

all of the recommendations are fine, except "Spyware blaster"
total useless POS Resource hog!

the rest are fine

fwiw, I would say
Avast over AVG (easier to use) and IMO more effective
Adaware and Spybot used to be the cats ass
now.. not so much
I would say Superantispyeare and Malwarebytes are better

Just My 2 cents
