So i just bought a new 08 raptor 700 and was wondering on what a good place to start would be (as in upgrading). I want to go faster and dont know a whole lot about putting parts on.

First off welcome aboard

Lots of options for modding, and plenty of good info here to help you make your choices smartly.

Any performance mods require a fuel controller first, or the motor will run very lean (Dangerous).  even with out an airbox lid is scary without it.

The following boards have Stickies on them about intakes, fuel controllers, and exhausts.  (Known as the big three mods)

If you have any questions at all, ask it.  Thats what we're here for.

Welcome to the board!!
It will all depend on what kinda of riding you will be doing.  Sand, dirt, trails, drag, track...

And this guy above knows a lot!!

Whatever kind you are going to be doing, the intake, exhaust and fuel controller will probably be the first 3 things you will be doing.

Welcome to the site.  And if I were in your shoes I would start with "the big 3"  And for me I would go with the barker duals, PC3 and the new FCI intake.  That is a great start and will get you the extra power you are looking for.  Once you get comfortable with that there are many internal mods that can be done to push it even further.

I would say the best upgrade you can do...and is free, is get your suspensin set up perfectly for you!  You can have the fastest quad out there with exahaust and power commanders and cams, but if you can only go over whoops at 30 mphs or through the woods and over logs and rocks at 10mph, what would it matter that the quad can actually do 1000mph

first, before you do any motor mods a powercommander is a must. Cant upgrade the motor without being able to adjust the air/ fuel ratio.

Maybe some comfort/safety items like Nerf Bars, front bumper, steering stabilizer, Flexx Bars, Spider Grips, radiator guard, hand guards, anti-vibe bar risers, aluminum skid plates, hour meter, kill tether, & as mentioned suspension adjusted to your liking.
