After Market piston and engine balance
« on: November 05, 2008, 02:15:23 AM »
Hi,

I am thinking of going through engine mods on my rappy. I need more top end for open desert race.
I was thinking of replacing the piston for an 11:1 but was wondering how it react with the difference of weight.
Do you guys balance the engine?
Or can we get a kit crank+piston already balanced?
Does anyone have vibrations issue?

thanks,

franck

Yes you can have it balanced. On a single cylinder engine it is not nearly as critical as a multi-cyl engine. Most aftermarket pistons are lighter than stock which creates an overbalance condition. This is actually good for a higher RPM performance engine to some degree.
