Hey Aaron, are you going to race Pike's Peak this July?  Me and my buddy plan on signing up and paying as soon as they allow us to, I understand it is first come first serve.  I'm hoping it's a pretty simple deal cause I'm jonesing to rip up that mountain.

No, there's are pre qualifications for it, IE race expierence and an application process.  Plus if you plan on running the raptor you'd need to be 700cc or less, btw you'll be competeing against banshee's in the same division.  I really want to run, and still plan to, but I think perhaps a banshee would stand a better chance  for much less $$$:(.

I can send you the rule book and application from home tonight.

BTW over 150 turns in ~13 miles and qualifying time is gonna be near 13 mins and 30 secs this year for the open class  ::)

Troy

I could be wrong here but it's been my experience boring v8 engines out only makes it eat a little more fuel and have a heavier rotational mass.  I think the big bore on the Raptor engine is the same, yeah it's a bigger dispacement but you are moving a heavier piston around, creating more heat, and waiting patiently for that fucking head gasket to blow,LOL.

Yeah that would be great if you could send me the rule book and apps, I don't care about making the best time, I just want to push it as far as I can and say I got to do it.  My buddy has a friend that has ran it the last few years and says it's a piece of cake to get signed up for.  I want to do it purely for the experience of doing it.

Troy

Krandall, you should just buy a +15mm crank and throw it in, I'm pretty sure the downfalls aren't near as bad as the +5mm could be LOL.

If you are serious about running it next year but are lacking the experience it may be possible for you to get it by then. The VDRMX harescramble series is going on right now and Harrys Roamers ice races at rainbow falls will start before you need to get your requests for invitation in. CHCA is the best place for experience but doesn't start untill after you would have to have your app in. Honestly I don't think they check what people write on there rookie resumes, someone could probably make up a bunch of stuff and get accepted. It's not really first come first serve but they will stop accepting rookie apps towards the end of january, maybe earlier because there was a bunch of people that missed the rookie cut last year and are sending theirs in as soon as its posted this year.

If you wan't to enjoy the race stick with a four stroke, you aren't gonna win it your first year so you might as well have fun. Last years winner brought more than one quad and blew at least one engine, the fastest banshees rarely finish first or even finish at all.
06 LTR450- race quad
09 KTM 505SX- trail/duner/back up racer
09 YFZ450R- wife's
05 Blaster

Troy

yeah I wouldn't even be worried about what the faster guys are doing, I just want to run it for the experience of doing it
