I have personally lost my map in the PC3 when I've removed my battery for an extended time.  When I pulled my battery this winter to clean up and resecure some wire routing, when I reinstalled the PC3 and battery and then tryed running the bike it sputtered and popped.  When I pulled the map off the PC3 to my laptop it was all 0's (Stock Map)   . 

I know others have done similar things and have not lost the map, but I always bring my laptop when I ride now, just in case.
