Ok me and my crew are in,
hey what about a couple of semi organized events maybee with a give away to make it interesting and get more people out?? we could do a dyno shootout?? highest hp gets?? say at 12:pm on sat after the rally picture we could have a croos country race to the north entrance and back winner gets ??? say 3pm on sat we could have a 4 stroke drag shootout winner gets ???
any other ideas??

we did that once the opposite. ABout 8 of us I think-we stayed in north, and raced down to the south gate, totally fun as hell. Better thing to do on like a tuesday morning though. it was kinda scary with alot of quads around.

i think we could work it out i know the racing is very competitive but we are all there too have fun and we should be able to be gentlmen about it we could line em up 5 at a time have 2 peopl at the end the bottom 3 go park and the top 2 go get back in line until we get down to the top 5 then we go bottom 2 out then 1 out so we have a first second and third. ???

The cross country race would be fun. Start right were we took the group photo and run up the east side and back on the west side to the came spot. My only question is do we start in one big group or break it down into a few smaller ones like 30 seconds apart. sort of like a time trial.

Prall be better to do like 3 quads at 45 second intervals. The only thing we need to do is have about 8 people at select places. 4 or so on top of the big dunes and etc. For safety. I've wanted to do a gate to gate run since I've been going. But it need to be safe. I think with some help it can be done.

Nope, the admins can put out objects such as orange safety ribbons and individuals or teams have to collect 5 a piece from the picture site to north camp. First team there whens.

I'd be in favor for a couple reasons , less dust, cheaper and closer to the showers but correct me if I'm wrong you cannot reserve sites?

Yep there are several pros and cons to each.
Personally I (we) got tired of having everything covered in dust all the time and the long pavement rides.
I know the dust doesn't affect everyone the same but for those of us in tents it kinda sucked.

In 09 I made the mistake of following Alkire too closely up a dune. He slowed near the top then as the front tires rolled over the lip he punched it. I took a sand tidal wave avalanche right in the face. :lol: Thank goodness for my helmet and goggles. As you say, nice exfoliation.

it would be nice to have one of the community buildings on the south side, but it may all be first come first serve since the state runs it and may not have good hookups for all you balla's.

From my understanding the rally is going to be on the south side at the community building you are talking about. Yes it is first come first serve, but there are several members somewhat close to LS (including me) that will go early and set up tents to reserve them. ;)

Pretty sure Thats what we all want to do. Nobody asking for much here, just some of us would like to know we had a place to stay after we drive upwards of 10-20 hrs... :) nothing more. And the hope that sites will be near each other, which I thought is the whole point, ride, hang out...etc....
Nobody asked Gunny to do as much as he did but we appreciate it immensely.... Really, I only got excited about it, because I THOUGHT he (and everyone else) was into it too, and seeing that he started the thread, I Figured again that I could get excited to go dunin... not feel guilty...come on, No big effort needed guys, just get me a campsite near everyone else. hell, Ill sleep in a truck I dont care.....
....all I really want to do is ride quads at the dunes with my buddies. This trip is a big deal to some of us....in fact, its my only riding trip this year... I only keep the quad because all my raptor buddies are excited about them too...but that's waning..

Unfortunately if you ride hard they will go out! I have had all of them. Somehow another they will go out. The longest I've had mine is 2years. That’s only riding at Sahara at night maybe 3 times a year and then riding really hard at night at the rally's. Firemen, what are you going to use for the cushioning in the tub to keep the led from getting beat to death?

OK, I talked to the park rangers today. Sites with elec and water are 20 a nite, sites with out are 12 an nite. You can put more than 1 on a site BUT if any of them hook up to elec it will be 20 a nite.

I think we are hoping to camp near each other in a group but since we decided to stay in the State Park this year and we can't reserve campsites I think it's going to be kind of tough.
I think HK45 is the only person that is going Wednesday and he can't possibly hold all the sites we'd need by himself.
Several of us had talked about camping near one of the pavilions (Red arrows), preferably the northern one but I think he said it was $50 a night plus $12 a tent after that.
I'd like to have that area we had the first year (Blue Arrows) if we can't get the pavilion area.
I personally would be happy at any of those "Blue" RV Spots but if a few people got the pavilion area it would be nice to hang out at.

as it is right now i have me +12 i think in my group for 3-4 sites. i am able to save 4 total. tobad all the good stuff goes on at the south end. i could posably get us on private land just outside the north gate

They have alot of sites open were we stayed last year. Who is interested in staying up there, you can reserve them for 4 nights. thinking of the ones in BLUE, I will call tomorrow and see what I can do BUT I need to know ASAP so I can give them an idea.

I think my group is just going to stick with the State Park, after the past 2 years up there at LSPS and all the dust and knowing that the Banshee Rally is basing itself out of LSPS campgrounds I'm hoping its a little quieter down there plus your closer to the showers and such.
If several people want to get together and rent/stay at the pavilion if it's still available on Thursday afternoon when I get there, or if someone else gets there sooner I'm all for splitting it.

If the burn ban gets lifted, we can get wood from a friend up next to the north camp. We might get lucky and have a camp fire but its up to the Governor since they put it up.

I've got to finish putting a bike together tomorrow and check out another Raptor and my Banshee then just have to load and pack.
So are we doing a group meal or what's the plan? Seems like alot of the hype has been lost since some of the major members and original organizers aren't going. I know Mike and Hefe normally took care of planning everything out and I knew there was no way I could pull it off, hell I'm just trying to be able to ride this year.

Well I just want to wish everyone a safe and fun weekend. Mia and I aren't going to make it. Mia is a freshman this year and she is really busy with school. Got a Cross County meet, which by the way is running varsity and running 2nd on her team and this is her first year running. Very proud of her. :thumbs: Know to the hard part she's going to the homecoming with a boy that evening and I do have the sawed off 12 gauge ready for him!!! :nod: I could have come out and played but the sand will be there next year.
