Ok, its official we're heading down to LS for a RaptorSource rally. I'll keep this thread up to date as far as who is going and what we need to bring. Let me know if you're in and any detail about LS you want to share.
Who's in so far....
Food/Who's Bringing it/What we still need
Needed:
- Few more items for dinner on Saturday and friday night (we have the burgers, brats and dog, just need items to go with it)
- Beans (or some other non-perishable side dish)
- Condiments for burgers/dogs
- Chips (Gunny is bringing some but we could always use more)
- Cookies
- Breakfast items for saturday
- Lunch items for both days
- Firewood

Tonto13 - Grill, fuel for grill, utensils for grill cheese and buns for dogs and burgers
NaturalRaptor - Hot Dogs for friday night
NaturalRaptor - Burgers for friday night
Moraptor700 - Brats and buns for Saturday night

Gunny - Lunch for Saturday, cups, plates, drinks and chips for friday lunch and friday dinner.

Try to get there earlier in the week, and ride almost 1800 acres of empty dunes. You will not regret it. 10 hour drive for me.

Nikki and I are in, here's our route, and we have room for two more :thumbs:

Here is a map of the park. BIg dunes in the upper right of map. (NW) The park is right around 1700 acres depending upon who you talk to. If you want to jump or drag race, this is the place to be.
Camping is at either the southeast edge of the park, or notheast. There are electric spots as well. Showers are provided too. Not the nicest amenities, but the riding is top notch. As soon as you leave, you will be planning your next ride. BEst time to ride is mid week. Not many out there, dunes are nice and smooth. Then, stick around for Friday saturday and watch the party roll in. You ride 24/7 there. I will be buying LED's like 4gunz for my SE2. Night riding kicks a$$.

I need to know who is camping and who is staying at the motel. Camping and the dunes are 24 hours around the clock. If you stay at a motel you cant ride your bike to and from the dunes after dark.

as early in the week as possible brother. May not work for you. but we will see. That place is the best on like a wednesday. It gets awful crowded on the weekend. Lets shoot for Thursday - Saturday. Leaving saturday afternoon. or early sunday...I always like to have a day to chill. 3-4 days of riding should be enough. But, again, the best is when the dunes are wide open.

We'll see, I looked at our savings last night and its time to tighten up a bit. I really hope I'm not unemployed then but in my industry if I don't find something by October I wont see anything till March due to the normal industry winter slowdown. But to answer your question I'm a program manager civil engineering firm. I spend most of my time consulting to developers and contractors as a construction manager or project manager.

Remember E. This trip is pretty much free besides the gas to get there, which we can all try to split.

Last time, I went on a $300 budget. Spent it all....but....that includes the new sprocket, chain, carrier bearings. AND paying a mechanic to drill out my old bolts!

Nope, I need it though. I got new cast today and it wasn't pretty. Right arm has a bow and outer bone is sticking out about a half inch past my hand. Doc says I'm gonna lose some radius, but I should be able to pick a guitar. I'll have surgery, just not sure when. The one I needed had a window and that has come and gone already. So it'll be one that will fix any problems I have after the healing process.
Either way I'll be riding in Oct, maybe not the usually 110%, but I'll be shooting for air. :thumbs:

here is my plan
of course, I can alter my route..
I grab X-rider load his and my quads on the hauler
Phucker possibly too
shoot down to pick up Erich's Quad in Chicago
then over to Omaha to grab Preddy's quad
I figure Krandall can meet us at Preddy's (what .. like 6 hours?)
with his mom's van
we throw his on the truck
then someone gets a vehicle to haul the people
2 of us ride in the truck, the rest drive something that gets good mileage
maybe a rental or some shit
below is a map of my route
I can vary the route to accommodate picking up anyone's quad
I should be able to haul 8-12 quads without much problem
we just need to organize this so we are not all driving trucks that get 12-15 mpg EACH!
if we had one big truck getting like 10 MPG and one big van getting 10-15 MPG
split that with 8 or more guys.. that will be mucho cheaper!
for me to "alter my route" to get Preddy's ride is only like 60 miles outta the way
I can do this for anyone, as long as it doesn't add TOO much to the trip
but I would gladly drive a couple hours to have another attendee'
or, if you can make it so your quad is at Eric's house or Preddy's
or anywhere along the way (friend or family)
I will gladly stop and pick it up
as it stands right now, I estimate $600 - $800 in Fuel for the truck (round trip)
if I said screw everyone, and just take a decent Pick up, then it would cost around $400-$600
that is calculating Fuel at 2.50 a gallon and around 1200 miles each way
figuring the big truck at 10 mpg, and the "normal one" at 15mpg

Everyone could literally get away with this trip for around $100-150 per person all in.

so we would need to work out a "people transport"
depending on how many people go, we could find someone who has a van that would fit us all
even a nice minivan holds 6 + 2 in the truck

Glad to be on here. I come over and lurk sometimes. I know it is a long way out already but does anyone plan on going up a few days ahead of time. If it is cool out I would consider spending 4 or 5 days. Maybe a hotel night in the middle of that. After a few days anyone within 50 feet of me will probly chip on the good shower. haha

As of right now I think Tonto and I are going to head up a day early. Not 100% sure on that yet, I told Peels if he can make it here early, that he could stay at my house and we could run down to Murry for a day before the rally. Still just a little to early to tell.

Thanks, my arm is still to jacked up from the last rally in Michigan and I'm going to float the Illinois river that weekend. Maybe in September if you go, let me know.

So far we have Socal, Krandall, Peelz, and Hefe on a 4-way. Peelz has a sweet ass minivan... I saw it. Does anybody know Doritos and Funyun's RF names? I know they wanted to go and they live up near Socal. Oh and Preddy says he needs a good kidnap'n. What about Phucker, I know he was wanting to go. Especially with his new 700/660 hybrid.

ya i def want to go, money is the issue so i need to start saving but that is hard to do when i have a stock 700 engine needing a lot of barker parts lol. we need to make a list of when it is and who all is going and rough estimates on costs to get said vehicles there. i need to sell my spare quad for parts and traveling money lol. i think it is far enough away so i can save enough to go. GERD i hope this is making sense, i am tweaking on a few to many monsters right now lol.

I may be able to make the trip with a couple people with banshees. How is the camping situation going to be worked out? I know it is a crap shoot on how fast it fills up sometimes and I think oklahomas fall break for shcools is that week also and alot of families spend that time there.
There are campsites with water and electricity hookups http://www.lspsonline.com/cgi-bin/campsite_select.cgi I may be going this route just to insure I have a place to camp. Im about 4hrs straight west of there.

I've been following this in another forum and have convenced the kids and wife for me to go. My 11 yr old wants to go but told her not this time. I am really looking forward to meeting some of you guys. I have never rode on the dunes so any tips and things I should get would really help me out (tires, water back pack and ?). I still undecided where to stay. If I camp will there be room for me, I think it would be cool to camp out there but I do need my beauty sleep fellows. There is alot of talk about when you guys are going to start riding. I would be possible up for starting Thursday. I live just below St. Louis MO and the trip would be 9 hrs for me and I would be traveling down I-44 to Tulsa then over to Waynoka. I really hope there is a big turn out and I think it would be alot of fun with more people. Anyway guys help me out here as to what I need and the camping. I up to bring anything with reason. So I quess after all that I really look forward in see you guys and count me in for the ride. Thanks Tony :thumbs:

Awesome. :thumbs: Keep an eye out for a set of paddles. A camel pack is great for out there, that way you won't have to keep rocking back to camp for some liquid. There will be plenty of room at the campsites for you to camp out. The weather is nice in Oct, so camping will be at it's best.

Ditto, it wont be to big of a weekend. There should be plenty of spots. I went today and it was dead, of course it was 100 degrees. If you want to ride and party south camp is the spot. If you have old balls and loose skin, then North camp is for you.

Cant wait. Going Thursday to pickup some used paddle tires on rims for 100.00 bucks. They look brand new. The kids got me a riding shirt and pants awhile back and pants didnt fit. I had been putting off another pair of pants. Well got a email from RMATV and all the stuff I was wanting to order was on sale. Bought pants, gloves, helmet, and kidney/backsupport belt all for 120.00. :clap: Know all I need to order is a camel pack and I should be ready. I need to adjust the valves on the raptor and it will be ready.
Whoever is putting this together please put me down for a camp spot. Look forward to meeting some of you guys and having a good time.

Somebody send me a banner with "Raptor Source Rally" and "2009 OCT' 23-25th" so that I can get it on the trailer during the rally. Rally is next month bitches. Aaron we gots work to do.
Also I'm trying to talk the local ATV shop into sponsoring or maybe a donation of something/anything. Has anybody (Randy/Erich) sent a press release to any of the magazine's? No reason why that can't be involved. Who is going to be the ring leader? We need some sort of organization of the rally. Right now I'm kinda under the impression that there's going to be 30+ bikes here for the rally. We've got people from IL, MN, IA, NE, AR, MO, KS, TX, CO, MI, and 15ish from Okla that I know about.

Picked up the paddles today. 21-11-10 Kenda Gecko plus on ITP polished rims. Still have the nipples on the tires and picked them up for $100.00. Think I got a good deal. Also went to Target today and picked up a little tent and a camel pack. Also got a UPS package today with my new helmet, gloves, kidney/back belt and pants. Just need to adjust valves and then I'm ready for little sahara. Can't wait. :)

If anybody else is around here without a ride, I have room for a couple of quads on my trailer. Four door truck and 18' trailer. Kind of sucky for me to offer a ride and not be 100% but I'm working on it. Looks like me and a buddy going so far.

This topic has has sat dormat for a few days and just wondering if people are still going. Is there going to be any type of roll call and what are people bringing (food, grill, fire wood, drinks, ?). Its only a few weeks away and I know I can't wait. Is there going to be anybody there on Thursday in the afternoon and that when I plan on arriving. I plan on leaving Thursday morning around 4:00 am and have app. a 9 hr drive but will be stopping a few times. Also, we need to hammer out the list of who is bringing what, there are still some food related items needed. We'll be doing a cook out Friday and Saturday night, breakfast and lunch days will be on your own but if someone can step up and bring sandwich fixings and breakfast items that would be great.
There is quite a few people on the list and everyone needs to step up and bring something since its too much for a few people to cover the food for everyone. Let me know what you plan to bring and how much so I can make sure we have enough for both cook outs as well as the two lunches and breakfasts.
Please refer to the first post for what is still needed for this large group.
And if anyone needs camping gear just let me know, I have sleeping bags and extra tents.

I'll bring firewood. I'll load down the truck bed and throw the Raptor on a trailer. Got a toolbox in the bed but I'll fill it the rest of the way up with wood. I'll be camping BTW.
Just checked the first page for updates. Should have done that a week ago. I didn't even think about it.
My clutch should hold for now on the sand even with paddles. It slips in the higher gears when I'm banging gears on the street.
What other items are lacking? And what quantities needed for those items?

Okay after looking at the list I see we still need food stuff. I will go shopping in a couple days.

I can get the condiments too, Ketchup, mustard, mayo, and....? Let me know if we need any other condiments.

Walmart and a TON of other places sell some instant banner spray. I think it's called "Krylon", I'll bring a few cans. :lol:
I'll bring a case or two of bottled water and also a couple of the squarish 2.5 gallon containers too. Keep one of those along with some hand sanitizer and paper towels by whoever is cooking and by the food.

charcoal and lighter fluid

Well I'm officially on vacation till the 28th and can't wait till next Thursday morning to head towards OK. I was doing some thinking ??? and can you buy gas there at the dunes or should I bring a can? I was thinking that I seen somewhere that there is a shop there and it had gas pumps. I will be leaving around 4:00 am Thursday morning from St. Louis area and I have to stop in Springfield MO to pick up another set of paddles and then continue on over. I'm planning on arriving around 3:00 pm if all goes will. I will be bringing 50 Brauts and buns for some food also. you can buy it there. LSPS sells it just outside the park. 1/4 mile ride on your quad.87, 91, or 111 race gas. But I always bring a can anyways. It is a bit cheaper in town.

So...I may be in guys. Need a bit of help though. A bit of a stretch, but figure I could at least try. This year, my wife and I decided no more separate trips. I want to include her and the kids in riding now. Last night, she says "YOu're gonna love me after I tell you this, I have a 3 day weekend next week, wanna go to your rally?" :clap: wife of the year. :lol:
Here's what I know. If we go, I will have my two boys, 6 and 3. I want to get them out on the dunes. THe older one's quad is broke down, so I got nothing. :( I will be be bringing my raptor, and my wife's 2007 prairie 4x4. Hoping somebody has a ranger or rhino or a Jeep or something I couold at least take the boys out once or twice to experience it, and get them into it! I have a friend who would give me his rhino 700, but he is a farmer, and in full harvest, so he couldn't, I tried. I would Let the wife ride the rappy most of the time. Learning reasons. Someone else can have the Prairie. We would only be riding all day saturday as well. They would not ride all day and night either. We would stay in one of the roach motels.
Or somebody bring their wife or daughter to watch my brats while we go ride a few times?
I just wanna be in the group photo :lol:

Wish that's all I had to go or I'd there. Mine comes outta shop Friday afternoon and I just had 1400 in dental work yesterday 6 teeth pulled 4 wisdom and two more. I figured jumping and bouncing would be the best plus could really afford sand tires after dentist that's why my next big planned ride is thanksgiving Friday sat and sun in badlands your more than welcome to cone out who's ever in the area or area they'd drive.

Made it home about an hour ago, got Tony (MORAPTOR) and Jesse off to thier homes.
It was a blast, my first trip to the sand was awesome and on top of that I met some really cool people also.
I'll post up the pics I took soon too.
I'm sure Dorito will be posting up soon about the "larm" but he's a tough little guy.

Just walked in the door here. Dam rained all the way home and got stuck in traffic in Rolla for about the 30 mins. All in all had a great time and nice to meat all you guys. Hopefully do it again as I hooked on the sand now.

Most/all of my videos were badly aimed but I happened to have the camera on while following Firemann32 and MORAPTOR through the trails to the front part of the park. MORAP busts out a wheelie and rides it till we reach a small rise/dune. We were hauling too.

In order of appearance.
NaturalRaptor. Matt drove up from San Antonio and stayed at my house the night before the Rally. We ended up getting drunk and loaded up the trailer at 2am in the rain. It was truly magical. Matt is a waaay cool guy. He was a huge help keeping things lined out for the repair center, always asked to help, great cook. Brought some pimp ass elk meat...it was gewd. He made some sort of potato dish that was f'n awesome. Anyhow an all around sweetheart. I'll always have a spot reserved for him at the rallies... or hell just hanging out. I gained a lot of friends this weekend but Matt will always be a close (long distance friend).
Tonto13. Roy is a stand up guy that is willing to bend over backwards for just about anybody. He also knows his shit when it comes to engine builds... don't think so? Come give my bike a whirl. He took care of the Rally shirts for us and we owe him thanks for standing up to the punch for doing so. The shirts rocked! Roy has an act for eating beef jerky in his sleep. You should see it sometime... it is truly special. All in all Roy was a huge part of getting this together and Im sure he'll stop bailing on me for future rallies, now that he ha experienced one. Roy you suck,,,,,bailer
Frog. Jeremy is an exceptional young man that has developed an uncanny power for speech. A badass rider and definitely rides his bike to the extreme. Also helped quite a bit with leading the trail rides. Frog will always be welcomed to ride at all of our events and I can't to do some fast paced riding with him again. He's also badass with a flashlight.
Firemann32. This was Chris's first rally with us and is also on of our newest members. An all around nice guy and always helpful. Was willing to help at any give'n moment. He went out on almost every ride, that shows some dedication right there. Chris also has a very nice collection of girlie pics on his phone, yes Chris I would hit that sorry. See you next year bro.
Moraptor. AKA TonytheTiger... Tony drove down from St Louis. He picked up Firemann32 and Jessie Klinge along the way. Class act and didnt take shit off of anybody. He had the only 07 orange/black SE bike there. Again another guy that was ready to ride all the time. Hope you had fun and like to see you at some more turnouts.
Jessie Klinge. Jess is a good egg. Definitely wanted to know everything he possibly could about Raptors. Always interested in what was going on and fun to talk to. If I was a betting man I'd say we'll see more of him at the rallies.
Funyun & Dorito. Yeah thats right, Kyle and Eric where joined at the hips when they were born. Brothers from different brothers. Kyle 18 and Eric 19 like long walks in the park and eating chips. The also provided the rally with an exceptional amount of chips. Funyun rides his bike like a raped ape, and well Kyle(dorito) rides his bike off of cliffs. His new name shall be Larm Jr. He broke his larm saturday while doing a 70 foot can can into a superman. We have high hopes for these 2 too. They really are a couple of great guys and brought alot of supplies to the rally. Thanks guys, see you at St Anthony's.
Disco. Disco Dan has somehow managed to capture part of the sun and mount it on his handlebars for nite riding. They say if he sits on top of the dunes at nite that he can be seen as far away as Houston. Thats HOT DiscoDan. Dan brought a shit load of firewood for us to burn, it was perfect. He's cool as shit and I hear he's coming out with his own line of cloths in the spring.... AKA busterbrown style.
Hefe. Jeff, is by far a real class act. This guy is a true sweetheart. Everybody should have the privilege to meet him. Full of info, full of heart, and full conversation. I did let him down Friday nite when I chose riding, over banging him in the front seat of his Avalanche. Im so sorry Hefe, I promise free blow job in St A's. I love you Jeff.
Phucker....... Oh yes the tinkering tinkerbell, Dan. I have been privileged to got o 2 rallies with Dan. The first was in SL when he brought a FI660 to the game, however I don't believe I got to see it in action. This time around he brought a beast of a build that unfortunately didn't get the run time it deserved. It was a 660 frame with a 804/700 barker. When she ran, she ran. I would love to race her a couple more times. Beatiful orange and black paint. Dan helped alot of guys out with his knowledge of builds, funyun, Alkire, and me to just to name a few. Phucker really does know his shit. I know his plans for the next build and I cant wait to see what this nut brings to the table. Dan, with the powers invested in me I now declare your new name "Phucker the tinkering phuckin tinkerbell"
Colorado700. Aaron my friend from Colorado. He is a REAL smartass and I love him. The one guy in the entire group that can manage to push my buttons like no other in the E-N-T-I-R-E WORLD. Believes in us as people not just a bunch of internet dorks. He is a real friend that actually does care about whats going on in your life besides raptors. Aaron and i have been talking over the phone for a few months now and I can definitely call him my friend. By the way Aaron brought man sex and crabs to the Rally. Aaron BFF.
Lady4fiddy. Nikki, what can I say, I'm in love. Watch out Aaron!!!! I'm gonna take her away. Nikki is a sweetheart and it is soooo f'n awesome that she was the only chick there, not to mention she rides a 450. Nikki was our den mother. The steaks we're good! Be good chick, hopefully I'll get to come up and ride with you and your old man before the St A's rally.
Troywcc. Troy is a top notch guy. He knows his shit when it comes to builds and is willing to help out with anything... from ass rapings to head swaps. We all owe Troy a big thanks for hooking us up with all the Dyno tunes and making sure we were taking care of. Troy is a huge asset to our community simple because he's not biased on testing products for us. You can ask John at Racers Edge if you need verification on the biased opinion. Troy is a cool cat and has alot of patience when it comes to explaining why this works better then this and so forth. Troy is going to end up being the reason 1000raptors are built, I can already see it. This guy also talks with eeeeverybody so if you need the scoop on whats up with a certain company then send him a PM. Troy sooo sorry about the RZR... I'll make it up to you. Love ya bro.
Jamesstevenson. Alright James, I can already see where this is going to go. I'm gonna end up in some OKRA race and your gonna be the reason for it. We definitely need to qiut bs'n around and go ride. James didnt' make it the rally till Saturday, but still a damn nice guy which is weird cause he looks like he could kick the shit outta anybody. James 2 weeks bro, it's on like donkey kong.
Alkire193. Chris was probably the most determined to get his ass in Oklahoma. He drove from Tennessee, with a 71hp KDS literally last minute thrown together bike. He's a hands on guy that doesn't mind tearing down his bike to add a butt connector. Awesome, literally drove 15 hours to ride a half day just to drive back home with an injured bike. Hardcore Rally award for dedication bro. We'll see you in Idaho.
We had a good turn out at the Rally and especially with a stellar crew. Next year will be even better and bigger. We have already got sponsors for next years rally and Im sure that a few of the big dogs are going to make.... like KDS, RE, Barker, and JVR.

Chris it was great to meet you, I give you props for making such a long trip only to ride a couple days. And you have a lot more guts than me to go out riding at night your first time in a place like that, riding the dunes and not knowing what to expect. When we went out the first night I think my blood pressure went to extremely dangerous levels not knowing what was coming up next and then I couldn't see anyone, I was alone in the dark and scared. :help: I really wanted to start sucking my thumb but I couldn't get it inside my helmet. So you my friend have some brass balls! :woo:

Yeah thats what I thought. I slept 45min thursday nite, an hour and a half friday nite, and about 4 hours sunday morning. Colorado crew was up for nearly 50hours straight at one point. Who the hell needs sleep when your at a rally.

I was telling gunz about a guy I have gone to the dunes with a couple time. He did that same pond when it was full!!!!! It must be 40 feet or so. 4th gear pinned. He also used to jump in 4th with no helment, total idiot.

Is there a way to blur out license plates in the vids? I don't have any video software. I can blur still pics but not vids. Put text/captions over them? I haven't tried that but it sounds doable. What does everbody use?
