Title: Might be buying/building a 2001 Banshee
Post by: Colorado700R on September 29, 2008, 09:27:41 PM
I would be my first banshee, I will be for drag/hillshooting anything specific I should be aware of?  What are good mods for good speed/power and decent reliablity?

My son had one. Never had to turn the bars just lean hit the throttle and ass slide, too much fun. Rode like crap in the rough but a kick on the beach. The stock ones were pretty reliable for a 2stroke twin.

Banshees are amazing machines... For the money, you cant beat them for speed. A well build banshee isnt going to break all the time either, a lot of the reliability comes down to how well it was put together and if who ever is jetting it isnt retarted or not. If you want a dunable drag banshee, a dune ported stock cylinder 4 mil would be a good bike... I have a ported stock cylinder, stock stroke banshee if you would be interested aaron, 3k would take it and its a bad looking bike. Has fullbores I painted, has black t-5 pipes and the fattys in the pic, has tail tech lights now, TORS removed, pod filters, and some other stuff, but it is a very good looking bike. Make me a good offer aaron and I will bring it to you....

banshees are great running bikes if things are done right.  Colorado a lock up is a must for these when drag racing.  also a good set of pipes like shearer or cpi and lectron carbs.  khien are good as well just more finicky.  i just built my first one 3 months ago and took it out to the drags and smoked every 4 stroke out there.  just has to be done right.  good port work is a must.  you will get what you pay for when it comes to port work.  if there is anything i can hel pout with let me know.  not an expert but have a little knowledge after my first build.

not trying to start anything, but I think keihin carbs are less finiky then mikuini carbs... The PWK series keihin carbs are hard to beat, only disadvantage ive ever had with keihin carbs is if you convert then to alky they are stuck that way, you can switch mikuini carbs back to gas if you want to.

The 440 conversion is a monster.

Great kit, and it's snappy on the throttle.

nothing started theshee,  everyone has there own opinion.  mine would be khein and yours is obviousily mukini.  ive had them and didnt like them my bike ran alot better with airstrykers.

i agree, keihin carbs are the best, I think they are the better ones out there... 35mm PWK airstrikers are hard to beat on a shee..

That would be cool, now that I have the plus 8 swinger for the Rappy, there is no need to build a hillclimber banshee.

friend of mine just traded his 2002 banshee for a 2003 grizzly 660 man i loved his banshee one if the best working shees i have ever seen it was all bottom end power unlike most  and was great for trail riding and went just as far on a tank of fuel as i would with my raptor best of all i think he only paid like $2500 cand. for it. man im said to see it go
