I know they have quite a few options, but I couldn't justify spending 2500 for the 19" wheels and $3500 for the super charger...

(although I wish I did the super charger)

I'm looking at wheels currently, not sure yet which ones I'm going to get though

id do a gun metal or darker metal color with the color of the tc. it would go great. maybe chrome, but the black/chrome lip is so played out

good call on gunmetal. It's so tough to find rims that compliment the car.. I'm not one that's gonna find rims that look sweet and throw em' on, you have to find ones that look sweet on AND off the car

driving with bad main bearing...sweeeet!  Funny, I let my Dad borrow my Truck to remove sandbags from the flooding, I drove his Taur-ass. When I took it back yesterday, I noticed a large red puddle where it was sitting UH-OH!

Do you keep the warranty with the TRD supercharger? I remember reading that it voids it. If thats the case you should look for a turbo kit. They are only about 2k, and the TRD supercharger is like 4k right? The engines on the TC are from the old corollas so they can handle a lot with stock internals. If you go the turbo route you can run about 8psi of boost  safely and still be a reliable daily driver.

If you google it a lot of people prefer a turbo over a supercharger.

What the  is the difference between a turbod and supercharged? Turbo can produce more power faster, and also doesn't have the annoying wine through the rpms, turbos just have that tiss sound.

Yea I remember reading that some dealers charge an arm and a leg to install it also? I am not really sure about that, but I know the TRD supercharger is not worth the cash if you don't keep your warranty.

Efficiency
This is the turbo's biggest advantage. The turbocharger is generally more economical to operate as it as it is driven primarily by potential energy in the exhaust gasses that would otherwise be lost out the exhaust, whereas a supercharger draws power from the crank, which can be used to turn the wheels. The turbocharger's impeller is also powered only under boost conditions, so there is less parasitic drag while the impeller is not spinning. The turbocharger, however, is not free of inefficiency as it does create additional exhaust backpressure and exhaust flow interruption.

Surge
Because a turbocharger first spools up before the boost is delivered to the engine, there is a surge of power that is delivered immediately when the wastegate opens (around 3000 rpm).

Noise
The turbocharger is generally quiter than the supercharger. Because the turbo's turbine is in the exhaust, the turbo can substantially reduce exhaust noise, making the engine run quieter. Some centrifugal superchargers are known to be noisy and whistley which, annoys some drivers (we, however, love it!)

Maximum Power Output
Turbos are known for their unique ability to spin to incredibly high rpms and make outrages peak boost figures (25psi+). While operating a turbocharger at very high levels of boost requires major modifications to the rest of the engine, the turbo is capable of producing more peak power than superchargers.

Conclusion

While the supercharger is generally considered to be a better method of forced induction for most street and race vehicles, the turbo will always have its place in a more specialized market. Superchargers generally provide a much broader powerband that most drivers are looking for with no "turbo lag". In addition, they are much easier to install and tune, making them more practical for a home or novice mechan

Yes turbos spool later, but when they spool there able to give a more boost of power the superchargers. I happen to like turbos in 4 cylinders, and I like superchargers in drag cars.

I like superchargers in drag cars

false.
superchargers dont have to spool something up so they produce power alot faster then the every day turbo
ever herd of turbo lag?   ;)
and the trd does not void warrenty.
the whine? thats the sound of bad ass
do you really thing " man that sounds nice" when you here a " vvvvvvvrrrrrrrraaaaaaaammmmmm PSSHHH" in a whiney 4 cylinder sound? i kno i dont

Some centrifugal superchargers are known to be noisy and whistley which, annoys some drivers (we, however, love it!)

yea did you even read the conclusion?
its a better way. shure a turbo may be more green but if you want green just get a damn prius.
i guess i should step out of this argument because i hate 4 cylinders. we both had vallid points and there both good.

RK - its not about turbo's being green  :help:
Superchargers offer parasitic loss to your engine (ie: crankshaft)
Turbo's are almost like free power

 ??? Turbos are green?

Do you mean money? Turbos are cheaper then superchargers.
Honestly depending on your application one is going to be better then the other.
Drag cars use superchargers because they need boost ASAP!
Street cars/tuners use turbos because its what its all about. Getting the most power out of a 4 banger.

WRC is the biz-omb! Stock (based) vehicles with stock displacement. Still making north of 300 hp, sequential transmissions. That is how racing should be-the ultimate test of the actual vehicle sold, albeit highly modified. On public roads! With someone in the pass seat barking directions at ya. the 07's were sexy. A sleek more sporty look to the STi, but 08' I agree completely, they ruined it.

I think part of the reason though for dropping the "Impreza" tag was because the fact that they aren't directed @ rally races with the new models.

I forget which show, it was that one with the british host I believe, the did a heads up, Evo Vs. STi.

Where the subaru lacked the evo shined and viceaversa. They determined there was no clear winner even.. I'll have to see if I can dig up the vid of it.

Check out www.gtrnissan.com and check out the configurator tap.  You can build one and while you do it shows it in a 360 view on a street.  Pretty cool.

what would you rather have
a 100 thousand dollar gtr
or 100 thousand dollar m3
m3s are marked up 50 grand, at least they were. wonder why you dont see to many? lol

Honestly, I like the M3 better for the kind of driving I do. The M3 would be a better fit in my opinion.

The GTR has a few quirky warranty related issues per my friend. No tire wheel changes, no running with the traction system off for so long or it voids the warranty, etc.. Oh, and a brake job on the GTR........$4000. Yeah. Ouch.

i would love the gtr. it would seem like the last car i ever owned. its such a kid car too. with the computer display and everything. its a tuning icon and it stil lhas the r32,r33,and r34 soul. the r36 is a bad ass car

the m3 on the other hand. terrable choice on the v8. its not like the old m3s. it looks awsome but it lost its soul. i like the last gen m3s better

Nissan is going to be super strick on warranty issues on that car. Someone will have to hack the computer first, and with the satellite link that opens the car up more when you're at the track. Ony the incredible rich will be able to afford doing so. I don't see the GTR being modded until someone cracks the computer system in the car.

Yeah thats what i'm saying there isn't anything out for it yet.  And I don't think its going to be a car that is commonly going to be built (i.e. motor work, fuel system...) just like the M3.  Those cars are becoming to computerized to do alot with.

I bet you can't ride in a Viper for more than one hour without getting cramped or sore. Not to mention, you gotta be REALLY careful about getting out of a Viper. The exhaust outlet gets WAY hot and when you exit the car, you'll have to be very careful.

I actually love the look of the Viper. I think it could use a little a few refinements here and there. Mainly to the interior and a few small refinements to the exterior.

The Viper was conceived as a historical take on the classic American sports car. The iconic AC Cobra was a source of inspiration, and the final version of the Viper bears this out with its powerful engine, minimalist straightforward design, muscular and aggressive styling, and high performance. Some saw claims to kinship with the Cobra as a marketing exercise, ignoring that Carroll Shelby was heavily involved in the initial design of the Viper, and subsequent design of the Viper GTS coupe. Notably, the later (1996 through 2002)Viper GTS coupe took a few design cues from the Pete Brock designed Shelby Cobra Daytona. Though the proportions seem similar at first glance, the designs are quite unique. Carrol Shelby was key in the development of the R/T 10 as well as having a hand in the development of the GTS model.

The Viper was initially conceived in late 1988 at Chrysler's Advanced Design Studios. The following February, Chrysler president Bob Lutz suggested to Tom Gale at Chrysler Design that the company should consider producing a modern Cobra, and a clay model was presented to Lutz a few months later. The car appeared as a concept at the North American International Auto Show in 1989. This concept vehicle was originally named Copperhead because of its low, wide appearance characteristic of reptiles. All engines for the Viper have since been know as "cooperhead". The name would later be changed to Viper. Public reaction was so enthusiastic, that chief engineer Roy Sjeoberg was directed to develop it as a standard production vehicle.

Sjoberg selected 85 engineers to be "Team Viper", with development beginning in March 1989. The team asked the then-Chrysler subsidiary Lamborghini to cast some prototype aluminum blocks based on Dodge's V10 truck engine for sports car use in May. The production body was completed in the fall, with a chassis prototype running in December. Though a V8 was first used in the test mule, the V10, which the production car was meant to use, was ready in February 1990.

Official approval from Chrysler chairman, Lee Iacocca, came in May 1990. One year later, Carroll Shelby piloted a pre-production car as the pace vehicle in the Indianapolis 500 race. In November 1991, the car was released to reviewers with first retail shipments beginning in January 1992.

Via Wikipedia.

I remember Shelby driving it around a track back then. Dubbed the new US muscle car.

No problem.

I was in high school when this car was in development. I would always talk cars with my friend's dad, and he told me he heard a rumor about a new car coming.....This of course was before the information superhighway. I remember seeing an article in Hot Rod magazine about the Viper coming.

I remember seeing Shelby on TV right when Dodge released the Viper, and he was credited as one of the advisors on the project. I was shocked to see this car go to production, thinking it would be short lived because of the cost. Especially since the Dodge name was very tarnished with quality control issues.
