Title: Cam Test
Post by: Troy on February 28, 2012, 08:56:10 PM
OK here's another cam test we started.  This will be a multiple cam test on my build and we tested a few on denver dude's bike this past weekend.  The build specs are:  RE +2 head, Web4 cam, 105.5 12:1 cp piston, +5 HR crank, standard Barkers, bored stock throttle body, 3" White Knuckle intake, and Dynatek programmable ignition.  We just changed the dynatek from a non programmable to the programmable so here is the baseline graph of that.  Big Big gains from just a programmable and some fuel tuning

Next up is the M1 vs. Web4 in the same build.  The Web4 is the red line and M1 is the green.

This is a retest of the same two cams the next day with similar back to back results.  Web is red again and M1 is blue.  These were 5th gear pulls.

I am glad you did this Troy. The new M1 cam seems to carry power more smoothly than the Webb, only a small difference in overall power.

Just to follow up on my build being tested here.  The test was ran on stock 14/38 gearing, original oem chain, and stock swingarm at 4600ft elevation.  The current build has a boatload of hours on it, and has been very dependable.  This build has been unchanged since it was completed.  We thought that there was a transmission problem in 4th and still may be, but we made a few more pulls the next day in 4th with no issues.........yet.  Some builds/headwork profiles, like one specific cam more than another, and in my raptors case, it really likes the Web4 the most.  The M1 made just about the same #'s as the Web, but that was on a low compression non race based motor.  The M1 may shine on a higher hp build, that is where Troys build comes in.   This testing that I have been helping Troy with has been an eye opener for me.  I could not believe first off that I would make 80hp let alone 59 torque on a pump gas build that has taken as much abuse that I have put it through.  IMO the "Red" line "Web4" looks like it carries the power a little better.  That is the cool part of this test, Troy and I just wrench, tune, and report how each cam did.  At the end of the testing and all results have been posted, it is ultimately up to all of you looking at the dyno sheets to choose what cam is best for your build.

Thank you guys for taking the time to do the testing and post up these results.

Looks like that old dinosaur of a web4 still holds it's own w/ the new young buck cams.

NICE TEST TROY, The WEB 4 is a great cam and wont be outdone by much unless your moving the power curve higher or lower in the rpm's or you have a CAM built around YOUR specific head
