I got your pm this time and pm returned
Troy, I've read quite a bit about these but why are they better than a normal crank case breather. Never got a straight answer from my readings.
P.S.
You bought that elka rear shock right? I think I have your instructions if you want them. (PM me your addy and I can send it out)
Yessir I have that Elka, sure wish I had the fronts to match  OK the evac valve has a few advantages, I'll tell you what I can about them. Your normal case breather lets air out of the case when the piston is on the downstroke and pulls air back in when it's on the upstroke, so there is some natural windage/ friction from air in the case. The evac valve opens on the downstroke and closes on the upstroke, putting the cases under a slight vacuum, eliminating any friction from air. The side effects of this are better ring seal to the cylinder, cleaner oil, quicker runtimes and revs, eliminates gasket leaks, and in alot of cases measureable horsepower increases. I have always gained power using these on the dyno. They aren't going to give you crazy performance increases like an actual vacuum pump will, but they do the exact same things a pump does at a lower level and a lower price.
Ya thats about what I've heard...Bout a horse or less increase right?
I gained up to two horse on mine , all the way through the dyno curve it was between a horse and two horse, so it works well for me. I've never heard of anyone getting much over two horsepower, but for the things they do, any measurable power is a bonus to me.
I also think the things like improved ring seal (& therefore life expectancy) due to reduced/eliminated ring flutter, & the prevention of the motor sucking crap back up the breather hose can't be underestimated!
payday is friday...I'll try and sneak one by the fiance
I agree Phil, that's the main reason I run them. And your two valves will be on the way shortly!
