Title: Fox float R Or rebuilt ?
Post by: vreds on July 10, 2010, 10:22:58 AM
Hi guys, been a long time but i got one of my yfz front shock that is now shot. I called Stadium suspension ( a local suspension maker ) and he told me that it would run between 125 to 250 to rebuilt one. And knowing that one is shot, the other must be near to be in the same condition. So i figure about 500$ for both.

Now the idea came upon me to look for a brand now shocks and the fox float r looked like the shock that would suit me best. I mostly do trail, and I don't jump very much. I'd really like evols but they're out of my price range. Unless I can grab a deal. Plus I wouldn't mind spending +/- 700 if I know that they'll be better than the stock yfz.

I know they're still the option to buy another set of used yfz shocks too, but i like the looks of the floats..  :nana:

What I want to ask is if someone here ever tryed these ? and how do they compare to a stock rezzy shock ?

Thanks !

Jeff

Between the two, I'd rebuild the shocks if they are piggyback style...the float r style is not much better than a pogo shock from what I've heard.

It's about 125 for a rod...but if you do trails, I would stick with those and have them rebuilt. The Float-Rs are for Duners and draggers mostly. You will like the Rezzie shocks a lot more than those based on where you ride.

It is just my opinion based on your options...The air shocks look cool but unless they're evols, they won't work very well on trails...I run Custom axis front shocks and love them.

I'll wait to see other opinion, anyway i've put back my stock pogo right now, don't like them, but they ride better than my yfz one right now. I'll check if there's a "deal" showing up in the following weeks..  And i'll be able to gather some $...

I see YFZ shocks for sale all the time...will keep an eye out for them and give you a heads-up if I see any.

I have to agree with the above that the Evols are the only floats you will notice great performance. I would also have your YFZ's rebuilt. I was running YFZ's but went to rezzie Raptor shocks and like them much better.
