So i just finished putting together a pile of scrap pretty much. The engine starts and idols good, but i just put a new chain on and took it for its first test ride. It idols up to maybe 1/4 throttle then bogs down, backfires has no power. Second gear.. forget it.. to much load to even rev a little. It was a running bike, but some kid blew it up and sold it cheap. I have no idea what jets are in the carb. I know NOTHING.. not even where to start. Someone hit me up on my cell maybe???1-501-276-9337 I have quite a few questions.
Adjust parking brake, check reverse switch; doubt it's a carb issue. But you should clean those too.
so after further testing i have come to the conclusion that my ecu things i'm in reverse no matter what and the limiter kicks in at whatever speed or rpm the reverse limiter governers the 660. Also, my head gasket is leaking something awful... will deal with these two issues sometime this week as i have a goal to be doing some wicked doughnuts and tearing up some grass in the near future!!!!!!!! Any advise you may have on dealing with these two issues would be much appricated!!
Here's a good write up on how to bypass the limiter :)

Sweet thanks!! I put a new (used off ebay) harness on the bike because the old one had been cut and spliced so many times it was useless. Now i'm about to cut and splice my "new" one too! lol Funny how these things turn out isn't it! Thanks for the link Krandall!
Never ending "projects"
but it's all worth it in the end :)
So i've come up with a few more questions.. the headgasket that is currently on the bike is a new one (0 hours ride time).. multi layer steel.. but its been torqued and untorqued maybe 2-3 times. Its leaking like hell.. think maybe the guy helping me just didn't torque it correctly.. Should i just go ahead and buy a new one or do you think this one is salvageable??? (i'm already WAY over budget on this little project and dont want to spend anymore money)
I'd get a new one...ask Krandall what happens when you reuse a headgasket

Blows up. :(
yeah, and did you use a sealant on the gasket when you put it on? Like "Coppercoat" ?
put it on dry, but from what i've read on here coppercoat is a good thing. guess i'll pick a new one up.
Skip the copper, go dry. And I wouldn't put the new one on until you're sure you don't need to take it off.
You should also make sure you've got a smooth mating surface on the head and jug. A little sand paper and a flat plane like a sheet of glass can go a long way towards shoring up any variations.
Whats wrong w/ Coppercoat sir dog? Seems to be a saving grace w/ the 700's at least
It looks like it makes a mess to me  I won't use that shit unless I'm running super high compression...like 20:1 or more.
ok, so I had planned to work on the raptor, but i've been putting it off all week. I dunno why, but i always hate working on my own stuff. I guess turning a wrench for a living will do that to you. Today though, i'm going to try and untorque and retorque the head in proper order with proper torque and see if that will seal it up. If not, i'm going to have to take the head off and resurface it and i'll go ahead and buy a new headgasket. Wish me luck today!
Good luck bro, let us know how it turns out! :)
Good luck!
so.. i ended up getting too drunk to work on this project today. Plus my good torque wrench is at work and i'm on vacation. sooo... sometime next week after work i'll play with it. Maybe even take some pictures!! ...lol
