Title: Need higher comp?
Post by: francky2000 on December 13, 2009, 11:48:54 AM
Here is what happened to me:
Dropped the rappy for the rebuild of my engine and installed a new hot rod crank at the same time.
Now i got the head ported by BO, +2Tb, Hot cam stg3, trinity intake..but...they didn't fix properly the intake sleeve. so the engine has been sucking dust and sand for about 30 hours.
They are ok to open it and check the piston, rings and cylinder. since they open i am thinking going for higher compression ratio but i am scared to have too much vibration.
So what would you recommend? stay with stock piston?
Or go for 11:1 (I have to run it with road gas) but which brand will suit the best? (Less vibration)
Is the HP gain worth the money here?
thanks

the if the piston is corrected then 11-1 will be ~11.7-1 so you should be OK for Premium pump gas 91+ octane.

Go 11:1.  I have a similar build with the hotrods +5 and run 91 all day with no problems.

12.5:1!

I got my cp piston from kbmotorsportsonline.com. Mine was stock bore 12.0:1 and it was bout 180. My opinion is CP is the best. Me and my buddy done a couple builds with weisco and JE but i like CP the best.
