Title: 2011 RaptorSource Tour Ride Locations
Post by: Gunz on October 31, 2009, 12:03:24 PM
We need suggestions as to where to ride. Please add a location that you think is worthy enough for a group of riders to drive across country to ride for a day or two. Name the place, location, and a description. Links and pics are appreciated. Facts only please keep the small talk to the original 2011 RaptorSource Thread.. I will edit accordingly. This will also be a great resource thread for all major riding areas. Please for the love of GERD don't send us a link/suggestion to your grandpa's 15 acres, unless you truly think it's worthy of 100 riders driving 2000 miles to ride it. Thanks guys, this is going to take all of us to get this organized. This will be the biggest event that any atv website has ever tried to put together.

Michael

I'd say St. Anthony's or Glamis

This would be my list:

Coral Pink
Little Sahara
St. Anthony
Moses Lake camp over for 1 night intransit to
Christmas Valley Dunes
Oregon Dunes
Dumont Dunes
Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area
Amargosa Dunes
Sand Mountain

Not sure how much time you would need but this would be one hell of a loop.

As far as Oregon goes, I think maybe camp at Winchester bay and day camp to Florence and Coos Bay. All offer different riding and are worth visiting IMO.

Winchester has my vote if it's gonna come down to one of them, but I know plenty others like the trails a lot at Coos Bay. No beach riding at Winchester - not that you'd spend a lot of time there, but I'm sure people who never have wouldn't mind some time screwin around on the beach. Florence is a good mix (trails, decent dunes, beach riding), but doesn't really offer the 'best' of either.

St. A's is the one place I've never been to that I want to ride baaaaaaad. That should for sure be on the list !

Some day we'll get the ambition up to setup a hatfield trip.  I want to go, Tim I think got all of us who were at the 09 fall raptor rally into it.  He had just come back from there the week before and it sounded like a lot of fun.  I wouldn't be able to swing any "tour" but if it came around to there I'd make that stop.
