Title: Sprocket size for Pismo
Post by: ls1ltr on June 08, 2008, 08:55:03 PM
Hey whats up everybody.

I own a 08 Ltr450 do most of my riding in sand out at Pismo, most of my cousin's drive 700 Raptors. I was telling one of them how I changed my sprokets to a 13/38 from 14/37 stock, he said some people have told him to change out the front to a 13t. I'd think it'd be better for the sand, it worked for mine I just need to get rid of my sandstars for some high roll out skat's.
Im not sure on his mods, but he does have a full white bros exhaust and intake, 20" sandstars. What would you guys recommend for the sand, and what about the rear sprocket? He showed me a catalog not sure of the name something moto? He was asking which one to order, he pointed out the renthal kit front and rear sprocket with chaing for like $150. I told him to just order the sprockets from ebay like I did. And also will the 13t work with the stock chain, and steel is better for the sand right, he wanted the aluminum?

Thanks in advance

we're just mad cause you get to go to pismo, and we don't! :bird: j/k

Stock chain may be too long, but not by too much. Pull a link if you have to.

You cousin's should stay with the 14T if he's already got the intake, Exhaust, and Fuel controller.  I run less mods than him and my rappy ran great at Walden with a 14T, pushing 22" 7 paddle haulers.

Were is everybody from on the forum, no Cali people? Plenty of time to go, Im not going unill 4th of July.
So no aluiminum, so I can make the chain shorter if needed, I don't think I was able to do that on the Suzuki.

The stock 700 raptor chain has no Master link, but I doubt you'd need to shorten it for a 13T.  But like I said, with small stars on their rappys I'd say run a 14T anyway.  Lots of torque to apply to the sand with those gears.

My 13/38 seems fine, on my 3rd chain & I tried to maintain stock length...

I like the 13T, gearing is tighter, good TQ.  It lowers your top speed but how often are you riding 75mph
