Post by: shrimpy21 on September 13, 2009, 01:09:52 PM
Ok guys,

since doing a 11:1 piston,bo's port&polished head,rj cam and kds +3 tb,ive got a taping noise from the top of the engine  ??? ,sounds like the valves need adjusting, but they dont already checked them and the chain is fine.
I no my map is off,but im going to the dyno this week,do you guys think its got anythink to do with that??

Any ideas, ive tried everythink  ???

sewing machine noise or serious tapping?

Give Jake a shout, he might have the best insight on what's normal for that head.

i would like to help but I cant, due to certain parts you are running....

Certain people will think im jumping in to BASH on components instead to truly HELP.....

Call your Retailer....

P.s.  a tighter valve adjustment will quiet any cams noise

That's not true Daniel, I have defended your technical prowess, and integrity for helping people with problems with whatever builds or parts they are running.

You are a valuable resource anywhere you go, we know that.

when adjusted to spec my raptor valve train makes the same noise.  Like DL said, when the valves tighten up a bit it decreases

the SEWING MACHINE noise is very common to all WEB based products,,,, tighten up your valve spec to .005- on intake and .006 exhaust..... when adjusting make sure the next size up will not slide under the adjuster thus verifying true correct adjustment...

the BIG cams are gonna be loud //// just part of the Beast!!

And when you go to adjust the valves, make sure to install an HDD 50/50 cam
Just kidding, had to go there after the last thread

I have a bo white head with X-4 cam. Mine makes the same noise. I wouldnt worry about it to much. With the evac valve its  loud even though its under the seat.
