Thank You and please let others know.
November 6, 2009
ATV Enthusiast and Douglas County Parks Supporter:
Douglas County is seeking your support in our application for operation and maintenance funding from the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department's ATV Grant Program.
As you may be aware, Douglas County is going through difficult financial times due to budget funding reductions. These reductions are expected to become more severe in the next couple of years. In order to provide the ATV facilities and recreation services you have come to enjoy in the Winchester Bay ATV recreation area we desperately need the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department to fund our operations and maintenance grant request. Your letter of support is vital to helping us secure these funds.
I have attached a copy of a draft letter you may use directly or as an inspiration for a letter of your own. Please respond back on your associations, business, or personal letterhead, if available. Feel free to mail it direct to our address listed below; send a signed fax copy, or a scanned PDF letter. I am requesting that you respond back to us no later than Monday, November 16, 2009.
Your assistance will help to insure that ATV related activities in Winchester Bay will continue to be one of the finest ATV recreation experiences you have come to expect on the Oregon Coast.
The Douglas County Park Division thanks you for your support.

ATV Advisory Grant Committee
Oregon Parks and Recreation Department
725 Summer Street NE, Suite C

Dear Committee Members:
The Douglas County Park Division provides ATV recreational opportunities to ATV enthusiasts in the Winchester Bay area of the National Dunes Recreation Area. The County parks division operates and maintains campgrounds, access trails, staging facilities, restrooms, and other amenities critical to the ATV user. Their management of the area is essential to insure a viable place to ride, camp, stage, and refresh in a location that is directly adjacent to the dunes. Because of the County's improvements to the area, family ATV recreation has blossomed. They have provided a safe and secure area in which to camp and recreate.
The County facilities not only provide recreational opportunities to the local ATV enthusiast, they have become an ATV tourist destination resulting in an important part of the economic viability of the area. Many ATV users visit local markets, restaurants, service stations, stores and other tourist oriented businesses bringing much needed revenues to these businesses.
I strongly support Douglas County's operation and maintenance grant request and encourage the ATV Advisory Grant Committee to fund their worthy request.

Also, ORDuner look at the Yamaha OHV Access Initiative GRANTs (Guaranteeing Responsible Access to our Nations Trails).
They gave out $200,000 dollars to keep Riding Areas open and clean last year.

All good bro,
Boy do they look great!!!
Some of the camping links were not working but I have updated all the links on the first page.
Chris
This was from another site but please read it could save you $180 and if you think this just oregon give it time as all states will get this same restrictions. We need to fight for riding land.
Hey guys, i've just been thinking about the May Raptor Rally in windy bay and opened my wallet to see my ATV safety card sitting there and realized almost everyone (except the oldies) have to have it this year. Just wanting to make sure you guys are prepared and to save you some cash so we don't get in trouble and targeted as a large group without a clue!
The website is rideATVoregon | Welcome
Please take this seriously! This year (2010) everyone 30 and under is required to have this on them at ALL times while riding, and this includes children!
According to the oregon parks and recreation website, A person who operates an off road vehicle in a designated off road area or trail without a permit and decal is subject to a Class C traffic violation, which imposes a maximum fine of $180! If you have a card and your child doesn't (under 16 i believe?) you can receive a child negligence fine.
If you ride a dirt bike, or quad you are required to have it, but online ATV safety education is not required for operating a dune buggy, sand rail, jeep, 4x4 truck, or Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) off-road in Oregon. However, the operator must hold a valid driver license.
This is the most important part... This test took me about an hour or so to do, its VERY lengthy... but! you can challenge the test.
In order to challenge the course, you need to be at least 16 years of age with five or more years of riding experience. During initial account setup, you will be given an opportunity to complete and submit a "challenge the course" form. If you meet all minimum requirements and agree to the testing conditions, you will be given one opportunity to bypass the study materials and take an "equivalency exam." If you pass the exam with a minimum score of 80% correct, you will be issued an ATV Safety Education Card. If you fail the exam, you will be sent back to the standard online course including reviewing the study materials, taking chapter quizzes, and passing the final exam.
for more questions please refer back to the main website, it takes about 30 days to receive a temp card so I advise you to all do this ASAP! People from washington and cali will be required to do it aswell, unless your state offers an online safety education card themselves.
If you have not put in your order for the way cool T Shirt get it in as time is running out. APRIL 23rd is it. Also we may go for a world record with the photo so make sure you make the photo at 5:30 on Saturday the 15th, lets line up as many raptors as we can.

I need to put out a big Thank You to JVR, just recived a box with lots of very nice shirts and hoodes along with 4 $100 gift certificates to give out at the rally. The vendors have done one hell of a job this year so please thank all of them and remember them when you need parts. Not long now and we will be like a bunch of kids playing in the sand box Wahooo.
Made sticky for you ordunner.
cool thank you, not long now for the rally.
Just wanted to thank everyone that helped support this outstanding NW Raptor Rally. It was a blast from day one and the best rally yet. Time for me to start getting ready for 2011. This is the group photo from this year with over 90+ raptors.
