went to the yami dealership planing on getting a yz250f after searching in many dealerships. they yami dealership didnt have the yzf in stock, but i feel in love with 2 quads there. the quads were a decked out ltr 450 with nerfs, grab bar and bumpers nad some other things and the bone stock rappy. i NEVER liked the raptor and thought the 660s were shit. but i fell in love. after thinking about the trails i decided the rappy ftw. me and the seller walked it out side after waiting an hour or two for paper sigining and i asked the guy if i could ride it to the trailer instead of pushing it and he just said " yea little man, just no wheelies ight"  i laughed at the tool because this guy was a tool and i revved it up and just knew this thing was a beast. we went right to the track and i remember taking it easy and whiskey throttling it on a jump landing and i nearly shit my pants

Kinda funny I found this bike off of RF.

Christmas of 05. My wife paid and my son picked it out and put OMF beadlocks and Pro Armour skids on it. They took me out in the street and rolled it out of our neighbors garage. We went to Baja a few days later and I got schooled on a fast Quad. I had ridden warriors and our polaris 500 and dirt bikes but this was a whole new level. I am now about 11,000$ lighter and living large.Next best thing next to a honeymoon you can experience . FR

I had already bought the prairie 360, then my buddy bought an 06 banshee, one ride on that, I knew I needed a sport quad. 2 months later, my boss says "I have a raptor 660 that i might be selling" I didn't even know what that was.  I had only heared of the old big names, hadn't paid attention. Like banshee, blaster and 250r or quadzillas. I blew him off then started looking online, and stumbled acroos raptorforum. 1 month later my wife says "you oughtta go at least look at it. For 1500 bucks, big deal." He had wrecked it pretty hard and bent and cracked fenders, and bent clutch lever. He got spooked and was afraid to ride it. I test rode it, giving it gas, the front wheels came up and I was sold. then went home and wrote a check bought it the following monday,. i still can't believe I did it. Never been happier..I've been less broke, though

Shit... Kinda had some of the same thoughts. Was going to work and had a little extra time since I was working nights at the time. Cruised into the dealership.. next thing ya know I owned a Rappy. It all happened so fast lol. But I loaded it up worked that night. Woke up the next morning early and rode the piss out of it. Ended up getting cocky and wrecking it. That's the fun part though right?

My neighbor invited me out several times to go riding with some of his buddies in 2005. I didn't have a quad, so rode his kid's Warrior 350. I became an addict but needed more than a 350 to really have any fun.

I started researching the hell out of quads and kept running across mention of the new Raptor 700. I figured any first year model was a gamble and with fuel injection being new (and crucial to the quad running) I'd hold off on buying one until people put them through the paces for a year.

In the meantime I took my wife to the dealership to show her what I thought I wanted and then we saw it: the '06 SE. We bought it on the spot. A little backstory: When my wife was a kid she always wanted a big, lifted yellow truck; as she got older she realized she didn't want to be a mom driving big, lifted yellow truck.

We paid almost $8000 for the first one. We bought a twin a year later for almost $2000 less because it was being cleared out to make way for the new models. The lesson: Unless you have to have the quad right now, wait a year.

I search throught all the guys posts, seeing if he had any problems. I found no incriminating evidence. Plus the guy was a moron and had his mechanic do all the work on it. The guy did beat the shit out it, but I dont really care, cause its a whole new motor now.

Its kinda funny, the pipe that is on it was his, and he must have had a little accident doing a wheelie. It looks like the pipe was broke in half and re-welded. Oh well, it get the exhaust from the front to the back  Thats all that matters, right?

Since the quad got reworked you are ok, but it would of sucked if you kept using it the way it was.

I am a FIRM believer in breking in a quad HARD. As long as you do a full heat cycle or two. Mine got broke-in burning off a set of tires, Then off to the dyno. After two heat cycles of course.

The first ride on my quad was a bit scary.

I hadn't ridden anything for a few years, and my last toy was a CR-250 bike.  One of the major differences of riding a sport quad vice a MX bike is how you brake.  On a MX bike you use your front breaks to slow your momentum before a sharp corner than slide the ass with the rear brake around the corner till you get back in the throttle. Doing this on the rappy will almost gaurentee a full on slide straight through the corner to a painful end. .  After a few close calls, on sharp corners on high speed fire roads, I figured out that I hade to ride the rappy like a sport bike (Lots of front brake, very little rear input).

I can say, even with multiple close calls, I had that "shit eating" grin for weeks, and couldn't stop telling people how much fun it was.  I'm hooked  :grin_nod:

I had been shopping for a new quad FOREVER because I have major ocd and I want to make sure I have the right one.  So I would go back over and over looking at quads and asking questions.  I really think the guys at the dealer were getting sick of me.  The sales manager told me after the fact that he thought I was all talk and was never going to buy a quad.  Since every time I was there I would ask what the otd price was for whatever quad I was looking at.  But after all my homework I finally picked out the raptor gytr edition so I went into the dealer.  That’s when I saw the 07 SE2, I was sold.  So like always I asked what the otd price was on it but I told him I wanted the heal guards and front grab bar off the gytr edition and a set of nerfs thrown in the price.  The sales manager was out and I could really tell he was sick of all my questions and me spending hours in the dealership looking over every quad.  So he just said “dude, you’re never going to get one so why ask….but fine, give me 7k right now and it’s a deal”  I just said, fine….take a check?  He had no idea I was there to buy that day.  He’s gotten to be a good friend of mine and he told me later that he just threw out a number to shut me up and get me out of there…..at that time (January of 07) the BEST price you could get on a SE2 was 7499 out the door from otd cycle sports, and that was without the heal guards, front grab bar, and nerfs.

For the YFZ we were at a swap meet. We walked around the huge ass place and were going to go back home. I had seen one 05 YFZ for $4500 and walked. Saw a few other 400EX's and 660's but were out of my budget. We got in the truck and were about to leave when we saw that there was another field that we hadnt gone through yet. We got out of the truck and walked back in and into the last field. My Dad and buddy went to go look at something and I went and rounded a corner. and whadda you know, theres a YFZ sittin there. I looked it over, looked ok except you could tetll it had been rolled, clutch lever broke, bars a little tweaked, and fenders scratched. The dude came out and saw me staring at it. I asked how much right now and he thought for a second and said $2200. I had to restrain from screaming "are you fuckin serious?" to him . By this time my Dad was over and looked at me. I attempted my best poker face but it didnt work too well, but my Dad was in between me and the guy so it was ok. The guy owned a dealership and didnt want to bring it back and put new parts on it and not get his money out of it. Two of his buddies came over and one rode it around far a lap, tapped the throttle once and near shit his pants. I hopped on because I wanted to ride it and nearly shit myself also, but showed the other guy up. Paid $2200 on the spot and rode it to the truck :grin_nod: :grin_nod:.

Stem was a bit tweaked so I got a new one and while I was there I got Flexx bars. Got ASV levers on the way too. I freakin love this thing.

I bought my Raptor in March of 2003 from the local dealership. I have sold many street bikes to them that we have traded for over the years, and I let them steal them all. 98% of the transaction was done over the phone and the other 2% was a fax and the day I picked it up.

I purchased mine for $5300 and did mine on 0% for the first year (I actually paid it off well before the year expired).

The first weekend I took it out, I burried the grab bar on small jump (Note to self: NEVER blip the throttle at the top of a jump).

I bought my rappy from my older bro, was moving to Cali and couldnt take her with him. All i had on my mind when i saw that beast on the back of the silverado comin up the driveway was . . . WHEELIES. so the first day out i was out in the woods dumpin the clutch in first gettin used to the feeling, id swollow my stomach everytime i came onto her in first cuz , well you fellas know what happens when you come onto a rappy in first. well about the second or third day, i went out and was doing wheelies from a dead stop, did 20- 30 and tried to do one up a hill, dumped it with a little to much gas and right over she goes, and then she didnt stop at the grab bar, kept right on going upside down. pushed the bars straight down to the gas tank, spun the clutch and the brake resi around. that was a hard ride back to the house. but shit happens right, if you aint wreckin, you aint ridiin right guys?

I went to the yami shop in Stillwater Ok and was looking, come back and said I want a '05 350SE.   They didnt take me serious, so I walked out the door 30 minutes later tired of waiting.    The next weekend I called Springfield and they said they had one left, I told them I was on my way and to hold it.   4 hour drive later I picked it up with a 3yr xtended warranty. (4900)  What a joke the 3yr was.    Got home loved the look but not happy with the power.  so Mods began.     Then about a year ago, decided to sell.   Sold it for 4300.   Got looking for quads and bought the wife a '04 Recon ES for 1000.  Then got looking on Ebay and found a local '05 660 with tits still on the tires and head pipe not burned off yet.  Wanted payoff for 4780.  Said ok.  plus I got 12qts of yamalube and tube of grease.   I now have enough time on the bike to finally change the oil.     Went from blue to black and all mods befor getting a oil change.    LOL

First ride...  Damn pulls like a tractor!      Now....  Damn pulls like a pissed off tractor.

side note has had oil changed, he did befor he sold it due to setting so long he was afraid it may have drawn moisture.

My story starts in the spring of “07“ about two months before I bought my first Raptor. It was supposed to be a run of the mill weekend trip to camp with my 19yo nephew that I hadn’t hooked up with for about a year. I should note that before this my last machine was a “1977” yz125 that I sold about 20 years ago before I went in the army. After my 4 years working for Uncle Sam my priorities pretty much focused on getting my business going, paying off my house, and raising a family. Along the way I had forgotten how much I had loved to ride and was completely out of the loop with any of the advancements that had been made in the last 20 years.
About 7 in the morning he calls and says he is on the way with a surprise. When I ask him what it is all I can get out of him is he is on the way and we are going to have some fun. While I’m sitting there waiting for him I’m remembering what I was like at 19 and thinking to myself what kind of trouble is this little shit going to get me into. Little did I know that I should have been think about how much this was going to cost me. When he finally gets there (two hours late) I look out the window and he is towing a trailer with two of the sickest looking machines I have ever seen. Clueless I ask him what they are and he says they’re his brand new 3 mod + “06” 700 raptor and a borrowed “05” 660 with a slip on. It had been so long since I road he might as well have been speaking Greek. All I could think about as I looked these beasts over is how long it takes bones to heal at my age. When we get to camp we pull them off the trailer he fires up the 660 to let it warm up and I’m thinking this thing sounds so bad ass. Then he touches off his 700. I hear those DMC duals and I instantaneously get a hard on the likes of which I haven’t had since the first time I saw Bo Derek in a bikini. Ten minutes later we head out. A mile or two down the road on the 660 I start getting the feel for it and any fears of broken appendages are completely gone and replaced with exhilaration and amazement. All that’s running threw my head now is what have I been missing all these years and it can‘t get any better then this. My mistake. After we had hit several local spots my nephew (with a smile on his face) asked me if I want to take his 700 for a  run around the sand pit. Two seconds after I let that clutch out I knew I had been pushed over the edge and there was no turning back (and don‘t you think that little prick didn‘t know it). Two months, no small amount of groveling to mama bear, and several thousand dollars later I’m on my way home with a slightly used “06” in the back of my truck. From that point on it’s been nothing but pure adrenalin induced fun.

P.S.
If you happen to come across this story Mike all I can say is, thanks. You gave me back something I didn’t even know I had lost.

well the first time i baught my ktm

i was looking to sell my quad for a bike. well after not being able to ride  for  month and finding a deal for an 08 ktm 250sx for 3700 my dad said he would help me out. the bike sold and i was pissed about it cause i kno i would never get a deal like that again. so we found a deal for a brand new 06 suzuki rmz 450 for 4500. i caled u pthe dealership , they said they had it in stock. drove an hour to the place. they didnt have it. all they had was an 06 yami 450. i asked the guy if he could pull it out so i could sit on it. gu ysays " nahh thats too hard. come back tomorow if you want too" i just looked at my dad and we were outa there. we went to the ktm dealership right in my town and i loved the shop because the guy there is so knowledgable and he suggested the bike i get and we landed on the 250xcf. it ended with a purchase and a verry happy kid. know i gota work my ass off and work my as of sellign it

My first day with the Rappy. We just flew in from an 8 month tour in Iraq. I met the wife and son and had to do a little inprocessing/turn in our weapons and I could not figure out why my wife was acting so funny.Of course I was the last one to turn in my weapon. Which was driving my wife crazy. Went out to the parking lot to pick up our bags when I looked up to find the truck...I saw the truck but it didn't have my old quad in it. She bought me the 07 SE. I couldn't believe it. Her and my son kept it a secret for 3 months. Very cool first monents with the Ol Rappy. Thanks Tami!
