Title: RJ series cam sale
Post by: Kenny on April 22, 2009, 08:11:15 AM
 I have a handful of cams that I would like to move out at a killer price. I want to get some more big bore kits and cranks on the shelf for next months sale :thumbs:
The standard RJ is $260 shipped
612/4 and 612/n2o are $285 shipped
Normal retail price is $300 ($321 list)
Ground on hardened billets, no cores required

There are 3 versions available;

612- has the biggest overall power and best manners through the RPM range. Big power gains without the torque loss associated with a big cam swap. My best over all cam for guys that put a lot of riding time on their quad.

612/4- has a little more top end power and over rev at the expense of low and mid torque. For the guys that like more of the "450" feel, or bigger displacement builds

612/n2o- designed for engines that will regularly see nitrous use. Does not have the midrange power of the others, but will maximize the efficient use (and power) of nitrous oxide (available in May) These are special order, so prepayment is required.

These cams work with any of the current aftermarket springs. I recommend beehives because of good seat pressure with low over the nose pressure that is easy on the valvetrain and timing chain. These cams have gentle opening/closing ramps that are easy on the valvetrain despite the aggressive lift numbers.

For those wanting a more race oriented cam, I have models available from Racers Edge, Tim Barker, and Web 8)

Kenny,

What would be the performance gains be for the RJ on a stock (un ported) head and piston ?

Kenny,

I am not a big fan of keeping the stock piston and would not recommend any cam swap using the stock piston long term. There is probably not sufficient valve clearance and the pin is offset in the stock piston to reduce cold start noise (and warranty claims), but this offset creates extra cylinder wall loading and wear as compared to a centered pin on many aftermarket pistons.

On a non-ported head this cam should be worth 3hp at peak power, with as much as 8-10 in the overrev without losses down low. I have not compared this directly to other cams on unported heads. As you already know, I am a firm believer in using the biggest flowing head you can get on the motor and using the shortest duration cam that will get the power where you want it. This is the best way to get the biggest powerband possible while retaining the best manners.

I just got your weekend text messages today :lol: I'm glad the build is working so well! The new cam will probably be done about the time you start manufacturing my head gaskets ;)
