Title: Reliable bore / stroke build
Post by: NVMYZ28 on April 12, 2009, 09:23:17 AM
What kind of reliability are you guys with 105 or 105.5 mm bores getting?  I am looking to do a bore / stroke build, but reliability is key.  This is a duner, not a drag racer.  Some drag racing will happen of course, but the bulk of my time will be ridding the dunes - hours at a time.

Another requirement is pump gas.  I am thinking I can get 80 HP with head work, cam, bore, and 5mm stroke - do you guys think this is obtainable?

I'd likely go with a sleeved stock cylinder to get a bit more sealing surface for the head / gasket (CP is a bit too spendy for this project - especially since I'd need to bore the cases to accommodate the CP).   I'll also be running no more than ~12.5:1 compression to maintain pump gas compatibility (we are about 4700 feet here, im running a JE 12.5:1 now on pump gas).

Kenny - get back to me via PM (you have one from me =P )

Bo, are you still sleeving cylinders these days?

Looks like Bo has given up porting. Getting back to basics with his family.....Good for him!  You don't need to go with a big bore to get close to 80hp. Contact Racers Edge and tell them what you want. They will do what they can to help you obtain your goal! They are great to work with!

You have a similar build to what I was thinking of going with as well - have you dyno'd it?

I must agree with Rutcutter! Racers Edge have been great with me too. They have my top end right now!
