Title: Port work
Post by: MAN on April 10, 2009, 05:27:26 AM
Hey,
Is there anyone that is good at porting 700r heads for under 350 bucks? I have my bike apart doing the piston and cam now. I would like a good port job but don't want to have 350-400 bucks in it. If I can't get it done for the right price I'll just hold off on that for now.  Thanks for any help!

Bo had quoted me 350 over on RF.
I decided to give him a call on my lunch and he told it must have been a typo. So I shipped it out to him after we got off the phone. I'm going with his stock valve port job.

My new set up is CP 11.1, HC3, +2 TB and a Dyantek ignition with a map from DL700. Is there anything I'm missing that I should pick up?  I have a Trinity intake kit and pc3 on my bike now, DMC Force 4's are on the way from TQS. I had Barkers on my last raptor so I tried something different on this bike. I hope I like them as much as I did my barkers!

How good do the Evac's really work on are bikes. Is it worth the cash they want fot it?

Thanks guys!

his stock valve port job is good for 2-3 hp and is well worth the money for all the additional features he does along with it

I might suggest the HC2 over the HC3 if you are'nt going to put springs in. Some will tell you you'll be fine, but I ALWAYS air on the safe side. Some have seen valve float with the HC3. HC3 is on the boarderline of needing springs.

no reason to skimp when u got the head off already... and then you will be ready for a bigger cam in the future

Yes, there is a reason to skimp. I'm broke now!
After ordering my I-shock LT kit I'm pretty well tapped out for now. I don't see me going any more the a HC3 anyways. Daniel you and Bo have told me I would not need springs with a HC3. ???

We are going to do a group buy for heads and your choice of KW or Ferrea valves and springs. These are not the cheapest heads but you get what you pay for in a head. Our heads our done by CNC. A head is what sets you apart from the competition IMO. Let me know if you have any questions

If DL and Bo told you that you don't need them well then.... you don't "NEED" them IMO. I trust those guys and many others will tell you the same. As Preddy said it's definitely a good safety precaution.....

I'm definitely think about doing it now that Preddy and DL brought it up. It does make sense to do it now while the head is off. I'll most likely have Bo do the spring also.

Can I run any cam I want with Bo's stock valve port job if I get springs?

Don't forget, you'll have to modify your rockers as well if you go with any of these following cams: X2/X4/RJ/HDD5050(exhaust only)/WEBs

waiting for the money to do the springs as well will save u the headache in the long run and not limit  your cam options just to the HC3

If I can run any of the bigger cams I want down the road. I think it is a no brainer! I'll get springs now.

Thanks for helping me save time and money later on.
