Title: Ron Jeremy cam
Post by: VelociRaptor on February 24, 2009, 09:02:22 PM
Just installed my first one, this it what the valve adjustments look like.
Stock settings, see how much the smaller base circle effects the rockers:

Now this is adjusted, left the lock nut off one side to see how much adjustment it takes:

smaller base circle to ensure proper valve seating on combustion? ???

looks like quite a difference for sure! Who's head is that? :)

all of the new BIG cams are on smaller base circles.... this allows more lift while keeping the geometry in spec.....also fits into the head without machining.....
i personally recommend lash caps to bring the valve height up a hair, and is the way i run mine.... u dont get to go this big on a cam without a few additional tricks

I just wish someone would just make rockers with .100" bigger rollers on em for these cams.

I have rockers with .100" larger wheels, but it sends the rockers far too deep and pulls the adjuster up on it's edge. Lash caps are for sure the way to go. Sinking the valves works too..... but that is easier said than done, and requires shimming the springs. I am working on .150" longer valves for my big cams and "kit" heads(w/ special springs). I recommend  6mm x.085" lash caps from R/D springs. It turns out there is a typo on the cam card too.... The cam is actually .519"/.479" intake/exhaust lift measured in the head. Not bad for the smallest cam in the line-up eh? I really think you are gonna like this cam :grin_nod:

Well, thats just a # I threw out there. Play around with diameters until you get a good compromise. A larger roller will require less clearancing too. The longer valves are something I know about but some may not be taking the engine down all the way to do a valve swap and thought a modified or aftermarket rocker would fit the bill.
