Well noone makes what I am looking for so I am trying to make my own. This is a fiberglass heatshield that I am trying, still have to make the standoffs. Any thoughts, tips! This is the first and just seeing if it will work. My questions are how will the fiberglass hold up to the heat in that area? It will not be directly on the pipe it will be about 1/4" of the pipe. Any advice is more than welcome!

Well you did a nice job constructing it
But i dont know anything about how it will hold up
I wonder if you could ceramic coat fiberglass
The fiberglass should hold upto the heat fairly well as long as you dont have it actually resting on the pipe.
I do not think that I could ceramic coat it. My main worry is about the resin's heat tolerance not the fiberglass itself. I do have a few more ideas.
could you spray and bake that shield in VHT paint? might seal your resin up ???
That is what I am going to use to paint the outside of it with, but I think I have found sometning for the inside that will work!
Why not put heat reflecting tape on the back side? maybe glue some header wrap on the back side?
both of my ideas were said while I was reading your first post. I know.. when resin burns.. It burns...
I would try coating it in the Ceramic VHT paint and then cover the inside w/ the aluminum tape :)
Krandall, that is pretty much what I am going to do to it and see how it works. I had to make 2 of them, as both mine and the wifes have Sparks pipes.
So what's the latest on this?
Just have to make the standoffs, and waiting on the tape to get here. I ended up making 2 of them. The second on has a little more coverage area. Then I will let my tester lose with it. She will let me know if it sucks, shes my wife!!!!
I'm interested in seeing how it holds up for ya. Any interest in making another and how much if so?
Never heard back. How did this end up holding up for you?
So far it has held up well. I am redoing them out of stainless steel. Sorry for no response, finally found a job again and it has been eating up 6 days out of the week, sucks but it pays the bills! When I get the s/s ones done I will post up pics. Mustang when I post up the pics of the s/s ones and you like it we can talk if you want.
Sounds good man. I was waiting to hear back from you on Krandalls post
Well finally have them done. Was going to try and extend the front over the y-section, but time did not let it happen. The longer one is the wifes and the shorter one is mine. The shields sit 1/2" off of the pipe.

dang dude that's SWEEET!!!!
Did you bend a full pipe to match the bend on your exhaust and cut it in half? It turned out great!
Bent it to match and hand hammered it. Could have been better but also had a few other things to get done before Snakehunt here. So I did not get as much time as I would have liked to work on them.
Wow looks cool
Million dollar question is......How much you want for one? Looks nice
