Title: The Moose is headed South
Post by: rutcutter on February 12, 2009, 05:35:11 PM

After a disappointing winter build the Rut, in his persuit of the mystical 70+ hp Raptor, is headed to Racers Edge.

Leaving Monday morning driving straight there. 14-15 hr drive. Staying a day or two and coming back.

I WILL have a 70+hp Rappy when I head back north.   :wootwoot:

I remember not too long ago 70hp was considered "big"  Now if a stockbore ain't makin that power it's slow for some reason lol

Tell the boys at Racers Edge that Fire raptor said thanks for the help with the auction. They are a class act.

We were just talking about that in Chat last week.. I forget who it was... said they were sellin their rappy.. had it dyno'd @ 58HP... .. I made the comment that... although that's sweet and all.. 60HP and 70HP isn't all that exciting anymore :(

Kind of sad.

Well, I am back.  Things went well, ended up with a solid 75hp Rappy.

I rode at Little Sahara in Utah Sunday.....At 61hp it was more enough power for me.  I will be taking it out again this weekend to try out the 75hp.  I am sure it is going to exciting.

I think I am done modding this one.

Those interested in what they did....

Traded cam to a WEB 4, tweaked the porting and combustion chamber, replaced the Kibble White valves with +2 Ferreras, milled some off the head to up compression, which is where I feel they got the ponies. They also installed a FCI intake.

which cam did you have prior?

GRATS on the 70+ HP rappy!!! That's fraeking awesome! Did you get any dyno graphs by chance? Be interested in seeing that torque curve!

Here is what John from Racers Edge sent me. Looks like I got more than I thought.

It shows the first run when I took it there and the final run after they worked their magic.

DOH!! I just sent those Racers Edge fellas a part just to make big valves work better on a stock bore! Dealer install only part. Might as well run in the house and grab a stack of cash.......and head on back down   Great job!

Moose,Thanks for making the trip. I hope we did not disappoint you. If you look at the dyno sheet you can tell that there were 36 different pulls. With each pull a change was made in map, timing, or hardware.

Thanks again for the Challenge and opportunity,
John

C12 110 is what they tuned it with. Right now I am running 50/50 110/91, seems to be running good. 4500' elevation here.

Thanks for the info. I spoke with John and they are going to build mine too. He said I could run 93 octane with a 12.1 CP piston at 400 feet elevation. Here is what I am doing. I want to stay with pump gas 93 is the best we can get at our pumps around here.
1: Racers Edge CNC Port and Polish
2: 12:1 piston.
3: Megacycle X-4 Cam
4: Plus 1  +1 Valves Both intake & Exhaust
5: Kibble White Springs
