Title: pic request to anyone with standard barkers on their 700.
Post by: Warren on November 15, 2008, 01:19:32 PM
could some of you guys with standard barkers take a pic of the right side(looking at it from the back) head pipe? i want to see how close yours are the the frame right there. i tried loosening everything up and moving it around but it just moves back when i tightened it all back up. i have the new billet mounts on mine. could that have anything to do with it?

Showing 2 fingers (almost 3) that I can fit between the frame and the pipe.

Heck if I know.

I wonder if there's a different bend or something.

Do you have billet mounts or the straps?

yeah it's the billet mounts. i'm thinking that might have something to do with it. i'll try to move them around again this weekend or sometime this week.

Well,. I know with the straps. There's a spacer thats about 2.5-3" long that goes between the subframe and where the strap gets mounted to (so they sit out a bit farther on each side...)

so its like this sorta....      |===|    (first line is the frame. then its the bushing spacer and then the strap.)
How are the billets mounted right onto the subframe?

here's a pic. this is obviously the right side but you can kinda see how it's mounted.

and here's how much clearance i have between my frame and head pipe.

If you loosen the header and pull the can off completely, can you get any more space in between the frame and pipe?

i hadn't tried that yet but i will as soon as i can. i have tried loosening the head pipe from the head and taking the spring off and loosening the muffler mount. and tried moving it around after that but like i said it just went back. but i'll try taking the can off and see where the head pipe will go with no resistance from it.

Try that. If it doens't go, I think somethings messed up w/ the bend on the head pipe. If not.. I'm not quite sure. ??? ??? ???

well i got it to move alittle bit farther away from the frame. i couldn't get as much room as you have but i did get about a good 1/4 to 1/2" or so. and that's good enough for me. i ended up taking the head pipe completely loose and taking the can off. i twisted the head pipe around some more and then tightened it up. then i put the can back on and tightened it up. it pulled back towards the frame alittle but like i said i should have enough room now.

thanks for the help krandall
