No flip flops.
Broken ankle? Boots prevent that? Bullshit. You could break an ankle from anything. Boots just interfere with my riding comfort.
I can see wearing boots while your racing, but for anything else, it's just overkill in my opinion.
Hitting the dunes or hitting the trails, I'm most comfortable in a pair of old tennis shoes.

I agree, don't ride hard enough to get boots. Unless it is muddy, then I wear waterproof work boots.

If I'm going out to be stupid, I do wear a boot I wear climbing.
~Brian
I never wore boots, like brian, I was on old worn out tennis shoes.. even @ both silver lake rallies last year. only one that didn't have some form of boot
Since I started racing this summer I invested in a pair though.
Most places here won't let you race unless you do have a boot.
If I was racing, I would definitely want a boot, even though I have trouble grabbing gears wearing them.

Yeah, I had to move my shifter up so I could get the boots under. It took a solid day of riding to get used to it. but like all things, once you get it down, you're good to go.
Back in my MX days, i saw a guy break his lower leg bad (visable bone :'() just goofing off, while only wearing tennis shoes. I've worne boots ever since.
I drink milk.

when you jump your bike and land, without proper support under your feet, the muscles in your feet will hyper extend as your foot bends over your foot peg from the force of the landing. not wearing proper footwear is and easy way to have sore feet and turn your toes purple. ;)

That was a bunch of big words :'( :'(
i tore my tendons and ligaments by landing sideways on a jump and trying to hold on. My right foot and leg came off the peg and went under the tire adn back to the brake while i was still on the quad. Evlls1 got a close up view of it. he was right behind me.
I got a pair of Alpinestar tech6s and wont ride with out them.
When I bought mine, the guy told me he has pins in his ankle from not wearing them, so I stick to it now. I used to jsut wear my cowboy boots...no protection there.
Thor helmet , Fox pants , Fox jersey , Six one six launch suit , Fox jacket , Fox knee guards , Fox gloves , Smith goggles " they fit over glasses " ,Shift combat boots , Back pak , and a new Leatt Brace . Oh yea and a ST Christopher medal just in case!!!!

Picked up some 50/50's from the stealership two days ago. I wore them around the dealer they were so comfy. Still havent ridden in them yet but I walk around the house with them on to break them in, and I forget I have them on.

FOX Gloves.
Jeans or shorts, or flannel lined Carhartt's if it's cold. ( really want a pair of the Thor Static pants, those are dope)

i like to use 3rd gear. its pretty long, tons of bottom and top end. pretty much the most versatile gear on the YFZ. you can basically to from bogging close to idle RPM's to HOLYSHIT in a few seconds.

Just added to the repertoire: Fox Comp 5 Offroad riding boots. Early experiences are pretty good so far. They absorb all the shock from jumping-very nice. No more sore arches. And, pretty comfortable.
I will be adjusting the shifter up a couple notches, though. Had a few accidental upshifts, the boots are pretty thick.

i got size 13's with the rock nerfs which come with the new footpegs and heel guards and i got more than enough room :clap:plus there wayyyy cheaper than most reg. nerfs
hmm. my pro armors dont have enough room for me to scoot my foot back. when my boot is under the shifter my heel is against the heel guard so the only way i can move my foot is sideways.
Gear? Well I won't be riding with flip-flops anymore! ;)

im not following that last sentence :help:
and kyle its because you are a midget. yea i spend 3 hours cleaning when i get home from riding then another week or two spread out making it look perfect again. usually whenever im working on the quad adjusting the shifter just slips my mind.
rr, the first senetence was referring to my imaginary meth dealing business. Last sentence is because I am used to riding in tennis shoes or rubber boots. When I would jump, they would collapse my arches. But, they are huge in the toe and won't quit fit under my shifter. Boots are pretty rigid and absorb the shock when I land, instead of my feet taking the punishment.
