Title: evac valve installation help
Post by: fireman5166 on September 22, 2008, 12:26:25 PM
I just got a inline evac valve and it came with no instructions. Just wanted to know Is the red arrow go toward the motor or away?

Away. The arrow is the direction of air flow.

You wouldn't want to get sand dirt or mud in there and make it malfunction would you? That's why I run a filter on mine. 75.00 is a lot of money to me, so I don't want to chance getting any debris in it.

The purpose of the filter is to prevent crap from going in to the evac valve.. mud, sand, water, ect..

I understand that.. But you could make the evac valve not work if you get it full of dust.

I understand your thinking, I asked the same thing a while back and didn't really get a good answer.  I'm with you, I just don't see how anything could get in there when air is constantly flowing out?  ???   Mine is always flowing air ou,t are yalls?

Isn't there like a little "bowl" kind of thing on the top? Where stuff can rest not "inside/past" but end up resting on the valve that opens/closes? I don't think the air exiting the valve is enough to keep out water/dirt. I'll send kenny a link to this thread so we can get his thoughts.

My valve is mounted underneath the throttle body. About an inch behind the clip that holds the evac hose. Don't know how anything could travel that far down the hose to get to it in the first place???

Another reason for the filter would be to quiet it down. They are kinda loud. The filter muffles the sound.

I can't remember the guys name (on RF), but one individual did have dirt/grime inside the tube.  I think the filter just a precaution but a worthy one.
