My nephews 2001 660 raptor has been at the Yamaha Authorized dealer for 1 week raptor would not turn over, I changed Starter, Relay, Coil, Regulator,Plug, Oneway. THe Dealer Said that the Compression is to high thats why it wont turn over
Help, I am out of Ideas???????????????????????????
Any help or direction is greatly appreciatted
Phil
is the decompression mechanism working properly? 11-1 shouldn't be too much compression if it is.
Aaron
1st things first, can you manually turn the engine 360 by turning the crank? How much compression does it have? Does the starter TRY to turn the engine over? Any and all info you can provide will make it a ton easier to diagnose.
There has to be a better reason than "too much compression"! Like colorado said. Dealer is blowin' smoke up your a$$. It doesn't turn over at all? ??? If it tries to turn, but doesn't at all , problem may be worse than just compression. :help:
I will Get More Info Tomorrow Thanks
I agree with you guys this dealer first said i was just starter relay, now he is changing his tone. He wants to ope motor translation more $$$$
Thats why i am reaching out to you guys
Thank you
If it turns but spins free, need gear. If it turns but hard..battery or starter easiest, or wiring next. After that, it could be decompression mechanism not working. Not turning at all, starter, or relay.
worst case scenario-motor frozen..a-la YFZ450. Sorry Kyle, had to say it.

put a grizzly 660 battery in the bike more cranking power. i had problems with the decompression pin shearing off after a while. get the battery and junk all the decompression parts u dont need to run them
