Title: project rex MODIFIED 10-03
Post by: Caliraptor on September 02, 2008, 11:56:47 PM
im 4 months in the rebuild, i got stalled because i had no money  but i finally got my a-arms ordered and everything painted n other new stuff heres from the beginning

i flipped one week before a race and broke my frame and bent my grab bar
(http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction-viewImage&friendID=39511440&albumID=1620231&imageID=28526678#a=1620231&i=28692571)
so i got a used 01 frame from this guy at RF
i got it, ordered a BARE PERFORMANCE GUSSET KIT and had it welded on
(http://a334.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/35/l_d9cbca4c3c386e8c2b4d8124a9e23f7d.jpg)
i tore down my old frame, separated all the things i wanted powder coated and drove like 240 round trip like 3 times, i couldnt ship the things because i had the work done in mexico
soooo like $500 later from the paint and gas i got my stuff back so now the fun begins
(http://a747.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/53/l_9171e1dd4c278b38911ba971e1dd563a.jpg)
i after assembling the frame, i started with the wiring harness and the coolant overflow thingy
(http://a162.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/66/l_21e479e9d1ce9cf00a8d2e2d4c4d3bc1.jpg)
after putting new bearings on the swingarm and putting fender supports here is the result
(http://a22.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/11/l_50efca6be17b755e10e5fa4de52e282d.jpg)
by that time im kinda stuck because i couldnt take off the bearings that go on the pivot bolt area
(http://a969.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/41/l_24d039bacbe36a641bdfa80bce8bf7d0.jpg)
soo i finally had my dad help me with the swingarm and rear suspension and the stem i did myself haha
(http://a398.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/61/l_e94bb87a5975a12cfbb971cc5051751d.jpg)
notice my dads bike is also torn down because we were waiting on his a-arms
soo summer came in 110+ outside so i stopped working on it for like 2 months
today we started working on it again
we got the rear wheels on, the ims radiator
(http://a421.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/67/l_de0b0c68e78e4fbca47b5386555d771c.jpg)
ready for skids
(http://a735.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/83/l_3030df5a564f72d4a9ebac87f88eb346.jpg)
another of the ims radiator
(http://a467.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/78/l_6abe024ea494d6b0bd1f379e6e4870b2.jpg)
new skid i got for 12+ shipping on ebay  .250 thick
(http://a645.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/58/l_ba7f1b6cce44ae5d847fa1d9364dd724.jpg)
so then it was bmust's skidplate's turn
(http://a906.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/24/l_5dbb84e0dd30cb6208f807addf43ca29.jpg)
we drilled the holes and tried to align it
i bought a pro armor bumper for a yfz and made it fit
(http://
A-ARMS GOT HERE
notice the fiberglass packing
lower a-arm
(http://a796.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/109/l_546e42f29c4bd64cf4b264e9d96d402b.jpg)
both lowers
(http://a302.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/3/l_dc5dedfa7f063e056125cdbf1db41b65.jpg)
painted the dust seals
(http://a617.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/29/l_34e5eadab769602db2278aa4393fa3b0.jpg)
installed on side
(http://a139.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/115/l_57d8b9d46d60747b67900881e445d02a.jpg)
both sides now
(http://a850.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/72/l_ada23cbe3c5b67b3f96f3d7aa54fff91.jpg)
the next morning i did the heims, new bearings on the front hubs and bolted the shocks
(http://a952.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/45/l_1976bb8931b487b9b8e56035cd3149bf.jpg)

so 5 months had passed since the accident it occured sometime in mid april, is that 5 months? ???
anyways, during those i months i was buying and selling things to make money and buy stuff id always want for the 660, some were custom made like my .250 full body skid, my engine is with the mechanic
i also painted the motor, got it bored to a 686, new clutch went in, new wiseco hot rod

so the engine is ready
(http://a317.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/27/l_cc8b28082928cfe29b95a9897b79d344.jpg)

NOW i just need to wash it, bolt on the airbox, charge the battery, add gas, buy new plastics (full bore red) rebuild my denton stabilizer, buy aluminum oil tank and air box
i'll keep this updated.....so far ive invested around $3500 in paint, bearings, a-arms, shocks, frame, etc  or maybe even more idk  ??? i dont really like to think about it

theres a race this next weekend, i planned on racing but the engine will be split open tomorrow, so i will have no time to prerun, and break it in
