Title: Has anyone talked to Kenneth (KBM) Lately?
Post by: r00st on August 17, 2008, 05:47:26 PM
I know he is a busy guy! But I paid for my Motowoz piggyback LT shocks a few days ago and have not heard anything from him (waiting on the build sheet to fill out to get the ball rolling @ motowoz). I know the build time is 3-5 weeks so I was hoping to get the shock order in soon so I can get my suspension setup soon!

Just thought I would check to see if anyone knows his status.

thanks
Mike

Just keep PM'ing and calling.  And you can call motowoz to see if they have the order yet.  If so just get the build sheet from them.  And if you talk to Motowoz and tell them you are in a rush sometimes they can get them out faster.  I know I got mine in time for a big ride.

Just my personal experience. I have bought stuff from Kenneth several times. Overall his customer service is great and he has really gone out of his way to take care of me when we miscommunicated on shipping before. He is super busy so its a good idea to follow up with him. I have found that the phone is definitely the best way to contact him.

That being said, I wasn't in love with the experience I had when I bought a Motowoz rear shock recently. I returned my build sheet to Kenneth on 6/10/08. At the time I made the order, I asked if it would be possible to get it in time for my biggest riding trip of the year, Dunefest. I was leaving for Dunefest on July 26, just over 6 six weeks away. So counting shipping that seemed a bit tight. I followed up with Kenneth and he told me that he passed my request on to them and that they would try to accomodate me. July 21, Monday of the week that I was to leave, I call Motowoz direct to ask about my order. The woman who answers the phone says she needs to ask someone in the shop and she will call me back. At this point, I pretty much assume I'm not getting it and that's fine, they didn't make any gaurantee. But she never calls back. So Tuesday I call, no answer. Wednesday I call, no answer, leave voicemail. Thurdsay I call, no answer.

So the following Monday (when I'm in the sand) I get an email apologizing for not getting back to me as she was out of the office and that my shock would ship that week and that she would email me a tracking number as soon as it shipped. Needless to say, I didn't get any followup, no tracking number, and my shock just showed up last week, some three weeks later. So I kind of doubt it shipped that week they told me it would.

I haven't seen it yet or installed since I'm back out on the road working. Which sucked as well, I had to make arrangements for somebody to be at my place to take delivery since it took so long to get there.

So anyway, over two months from the time I ordered it to the time I got it, which isn't all that bad. My experience could have been far from normal and I understand that people get very busy, but I have to admit that I kinda have a bad taste in my mouth about Motowoz customer service. Not trying to bash them, just giving some honest feedback. I may still look at them when I decide to do front shocks, but I can't say that this wasn't a bit of a turn off.

But that's Motowoz, I don't have anything bad to say about Kenneth on the deal. I mean, I doubt he made a note of my expedite request and followed up on it, but come on, it's not like he's superman, lol.

Whats odd is I had the EXACT OPPOSITE experience with motowoz.  When I called, they answered.  If I called after hours they called me right back when they opened.  And I had my shocks in just over 3 weeks.  I felt they were one of the best companies I've worked with.

Talked to him yesterday, left a voice message, he called back within a couple of hours. Sending him a throttle body tommorrow, said it would be 3-4 day turn around once he got it.

So, I just thought I would post an update about my Motowoz rear shock experience. I got home from working out of town and opened the thing up to check it out. Inside the box was a letter from Jim at Motowoz apologizing for the delay in getting my shock out and offering me a free rebuild any time in the next year should I need one.

I have to say I was quite suprised. Very stand up guy. I doubt I would have gotten that kind of service from Elka or Fox. Anyway, like I said previously, I wasn't really upset about the lead time, just the lack of communication. But I thought it was very cool of them to add that little touch to it.

Now I just can't wait to get this thing mounted up and go ride it.

Your Killing Me Aaron! Comments like that will not get you good deals in the future!

By the way bro I'm from Kentucky !

I'm really sorry for anyone waiting on Motowoz. Mike (Roost ) I've already sent the build sheet to Suzi, and I know we have communicated since this post, but I didn't want to not say anything and ignore your concern.

I'm on a lot of forums now and its hard to read every section of the forum. As always I will miss a post or two if it is urgent please contact us by e-mail or phone.
