Title: Need help real quick with head bolts
Post by: double06 on August 16, 2008, 03:38:23 PM
Which holes do the long bolts go in?  If I'm sitting beside the quad on the left side, looking at the cam, which side do the longest head bolts go in?  The side nearest the cam door or the far side (oil filter side)?

I hope these are NEW bolts going in the holes... the OEM's have a tendency to stretch.  Rocket Factory does a 9mm stud kit now too, so there are some options.  Velociraptor and Bamaquad do a 3/8" bolt conversion too.  With the 3/8" conversion, one can replace the bolts everytime from a local hardware store.

I'm one of the lucky ones to get the 3/8" treatment.

I got mine to about 32 lbs. and quit.  I've worked with lots of aluminum in my day and it was all I cared to risk.  My cylinder is o-ringed as well, and I have had no issues with head leaks.
