I will be getting my '09 soon and I am a little undecided if I should get the SE or the standard?
The only difference are the SE paint scheme, front grab bar, GYTR heel guards, and wave "style" rear brake disc.
Just trying to justify spending the extra $600 for looks when I could use it for exhaust or PCIII or intake system or tires...or new riding gear...
For me I would be replacing the heel guards anyways and most likely the front grab bar. The only thing that is catching my attention the most is the SE paint scheme.
So if you were to get a 09 which would be???

don't care for black plastic, get the blue one. They look the best. Black plastic fades too fast and becomes gray.
Man I really love the idea of the colored frame. I almost bought the gray/red 08' just for the frame, but I found a steal on a 07' SE2 with the blue frame. That was my #1 decision maker on which bike to get. Its easier to buy any colored plastic then it is to strip it down to the frame and have it painted. Plus black or red looks sweet as hell with a red frame. "and thats all I got to say about that" Forrest G. :grin_nod:

+1
i like the white and black one :grin_nod:
#2 White & Black
That black and red one is so f'ing hot! But the white one won't show scratches as bad.
From watching my bro have black plastics on his quad. And my best friend having black on his quad... my friend bought an brand new 06' 400ex. Had MAYBE 20 hours on it before it was stolen. (about 2 months ago)
and it looked like it had been through hell. Same as my bro's 250x he bought new black plastics for it, and they lasted about 2 months of good riding.
Blue's are the fastest ;)

Thats the problem, they look good only for a few months. But they sure look hot on the show room floor.
My buddys 08 KFX450 is all black with no stickers , super sharp machine.........until dirt touches it
Also, he's had it less than two months and the scratches are very visable
Thats why the 07SE2 is the way to go!
il love the black and red but it just is gonna fade fast my brother had a 400ex with some aftermarket black fenders and they faded within a month and a half  but that didnt stop anyone from steeling it :(
hehe anyone ever caught the person who stole their dirtbike/fourwheeler ? while riding it!!! well my brothers 06 rm250 got stolen and in short we caught a 12 year old riding it ill tell yall the whole story when i get back from cuttin my granpa's grass
funny as hell

Blue's are the fastest ;)
Nope, the white ones are faster.. Thats because the blue ones have heavier plastic. Its blue and white, where as the white one is only white, thus less weight. Proof you say? Bend the white plastic and it shows white, but bend the blue plastic and it shows white..
Its really a hard choice, all three color schemes look great for '09

My vote is for the white one! My GYTR (THE BEST 8)) is easy to clean, and shows a lot less wear than my old black and white 660.
don't care for the blue, to many out there. 600 bucks more, just means you need to wheel and deal a little more.
hehe i should get some of my family to go with you they can get furniture for free and get payed to take it
hahaha that seriously happened once at a home depot my aunt bitched for so long about everything that was wrong with it that they gave it to her for free the she bitched because they didnt have anyone to help her load it so they gave her 10 to take it it was the most embarasing day of my life
My vote: Spend the extra money on the SE. If you're going to spend thousands to buy something you might as well get what you want.
+1 yeah good advice go ahead and spend the extra money because you will kick yourself in the ass for not getting what you wanted later
My plastics are beat up, no cracks or stress marks just scratched from riding trails etc. The white cleans up nice
Thanks for all the replies!! I think I am going to go with the white for a few reasons:
#1 - Paint fade - Something I had not thought of before. The white should not show fade as easily.
#2 - Scratches show less - White will not show the scratches and nicks as much.
#3 - Parts - all the extra/different part the SE comes with (except body) will be replaced with aftermarket parts.
#4 - $$$$ - The $600 thats not going into the SE will go towards the "BIG 3" upgrades!!
Nice choice, but either way as long as you choose the rappy you will be happy. Good luck and post up some picks when you get it!

blue doesn't show them that bad either. The reason I like the blue, is that it is instantly rcognizable as yamaha.

Thats true!! The yamaha blue can't be mistaken!!
yeah outta those three im kinda in love with the blue myself
just looks so yamaha bad ass to me
It's a crying shame they don't make a yellow one anymore, Yamaha shouldn't be known for it's blue when it roots are yellow and black. And we all know the yellow ones are by far the fastest ;)
i think suzuki has taken yellow as its trademark color now
but i think can-am uses lots of yellow to but they dont count

sure they are. :grin_nod: I agree, yellow should be available.
It would be nice if you had a few more color choices for sure, they've had some really cool ones since 06, it would be cool if they still used some of them with different combos or something.

yea nice examples you mods set
I'd go white it will stay looking good for the longest and does not show flex. Just keep a bottle of soft scrub and that thing will look good for a long time. No quad should be made in black if you intend on riding it.

well put. They do look bad a$$ out of the box, though. My buddy bought the 06 banshee SE-completely blacked out. Looks sick, but showing alot of wear and tear after one year..
