I thought I would share a couple of photo's of what my quad looks like after I dumped it end over end at Sandfest earlier this month. I had it pinned in third i'm sure over 70 MPH and when I let off the gas it immediately started shaking, the front left tire broke off sending me hurrling through the air, I broke my shoulder blade and a few small bruises. The good news is, I have all the parts to put it back together and the shoulder is healing quickly.
This is the way it looked on Thursday before the big event

your picture makes me want to cry. Glad you and bike are doing OK.
Sorry to hear the bad news Grant
It sounds like you'll have the bike ready before your healed up
Very nice quad 8)
Oh man thats bad :( Really nice bike though  Good thing you made it out ok
Thanks guys, Yea, the bike is healing up, i have a new steering stem and bars, these in the pics seem to be straight still, but I'm not going to risk it and went with a new set. I rode my bicycle tonight to get a feel of some handlebars without any pain
Grant
I hope you heal very quickly so the bicycle doesn't get modded
When will the shoulder blade be healed up?
I have my first trip planned on Sept. 12th and 13th. I'm sure by then my shoulder will be more than ready. I like to hill shoot so I'm sure I can hold the bars straight for 4 seconds at a time
Grant
make sure you give it propper time... My bro learned that the hard way 2 summers ago. Broke his wrist. they put it in a cast where it came down into the palm. finger tips exposed.. He couldn't ride his wheeler.. so what does he do.. goes into my dads garage.. takes out the air grinder. cuts off the part that goes wehre his wheeler grips should go. and me and him went riding...
needless to say. he went in for his check up. Break hadn't healed. and the doc put it in a full cast
glad to hear you and the rapy are alright! 8)
dang that was a nice bike... haha still is but ya no..
get well soon
What caused the wreck?
Holy cow!
Glad you survived!
I've had a shoulder injury myself and it's very painful. Hang in there, and get well soon.

Nice looking bike you had there  sure it will look even better when you have finished.Glad to hear you and the bike are healing
glad to hear your ok and id still hit it :nana:
Glad to hear your healing fast!! Could have been a lot worse for you.....
So could you figure out what part broke first? ??? And does it have warranty on it? What's the next step for fixing it? Same parts or stronger ones?

I don't know what part broke first, I was kind of pre-occupied fending for my life as I flew through the air. The tie rod broke in half and the heim's (all 4) broke off at the the frame.
I am rebuilding it and have almost all the parts to do it. I have ordered 4 wheel addiction (stock width) upper and lower A arms, Heavy wall tie rods and a Titanium steering stem & big bar clamp. Also a wider hillshooter axle to replace the narrow drag axle.
Grant
Glad your healing up Grant. Since you gotta get new A-arms anyway, are you gonna get them offset forward at all?
Aaron
That was a scary afternoon for sure....it's a good thing your built like a BRICK-SHITHOUSE :grin_nod: My skinny ass would still be in the hospital :'(

Aaron, the A arms that I took off were +1 forward and -1 in. I am going stock forward and stock width to get back to the stock geometry the way the bike was intended to sit. I have talked to a couple of old timers, guys that have raced a lot and got their advice on this. There are different school's of thought for sure.
Grant
I just installed my new Steering stem and clamp, it's the Eko brand. Dustin does a great job on these, and has excellent customer service. The bars are strong but lightweight aluminum, weighing well under a pound and very nice.

definitely, I wish there was a way to move the engine back ~1 inch back in the stock frame, CG is too far forward IMO, and extending the quad forward seems like beneficial during part of a drag, but not all
OLY CHIT MANG Glad to see your ok  could have been worse and btw Nice bike ! Very Clean !
Damn Grant, nice wreck. Glad to see your ok. Just get back on the saddle and don't let your mind mess with you.
Yea, thanks for the words of encouragement, the bike has always been clean but I overlooked a few critical front end details. I pushed the envelope of lightness and it bit me in the shoulder :(
More new parts. Paul at Mid Valley Powdercoated the KRB - 4 wheel addiction A arms and spindles They will go on tomorrow night

Grant

Glad to hear your ok. Hope all heals well!

I'm gonna have to check that stem and them arms out in Sept when were at Windy Bay.....I been drooling over those EKO stem and bar combos, I bet they don't come cheap. Is that a Ti stem ?
Yea, it's a pretty nice set-up and It is Ti. I was sold on the strength and light weightness of it.

Hey Grant....I gotta hand it to you, after that nasty spill, you`re right there getting yourself and bike back together. I know how much you love this sport and I`m impressed with your dtermination . Michael and I hope to see all of you guys in September at Winchester. Tell Tony I purchased 60 feet of the flat web rope...It will ride with me from now on :grin_nod:............Don
Don, It's great to see you on this site  I DO love this sport and I'm not going to let myself make a series of stupid mistakes again. My quad should be stronger and more stable than ever, maybe not as lightweight-but I guess (as I say reluctantly) that's not always the safest. I sure will see you in September at Winchester.
Grant
Here are a couple more repaired parts from the wreck. Kosta (RaptorR) was nice enough to take the broken drag pipe off of my bike, weld it back together, and send it to me today. THANKS again Kosta, your weld looks A-1 brother. Also the Fox shock had a bent top cap, and needed several small parts to restore it.
