Hi. I want to get these tires for a Yamaha Raptor 660. Will these tires fit onto the stock rims? The specs for the tires are 20 x 11-9 but the stock tires are 20 x 10-9. If these tires do fit do you think they would do well in loose/soft dirt(not sand),trails, and hills(not dunes). Also how do these tires handle on pavement?
they will fit
Members here are running them with great results
None of the HS or maxxis razors are designed for road use. They are a supersoft compound that will wear away real fast on a hard surface.
Aaron
Thanks alot
with those turned knobs it doent make it pull to one side or the other bad does it

Negative, I race with HS GNCCs, similar design. The turned knobs add side bite for nastier terrain.
how durable are XCR's if i run them on mainly hard/soft dirt and in trails? how long will they last

They were the standard for GNCC racing for a long time, stay off the black top and they'll serve you well
do these tires slide on dirt good at all
I'm running BRAND NEW XCR's on the back of my 700. Oh man.. I can't give them enough praise. They saw their first XC race this past weekend. They did their job and then some!
how are they on acceleration? do they get a good bite on take off? how do they handle at high speeds?
+1 they are good tires
Takeoff they gripped like a mo-fo.
I didn't get them to high speed since it was woods racing. but they more than did their job for sure!

No offense darkside, but when a tire is used in a racing series, don't you think that those questions are redundant??
Aaron
what you are saying makes sense but im trying to get what is best for ME not what works best for them

All good, I understand. Just thinking that the GNCC racing series is about the most abuseive on tires there is.
Also, since they are near the same in cost, consider the GNCCs. They are the lightest 6 ply tire on the market and grip like no other.
They also self clean really well for when your in muddy conditions
Aaron
are they as durable as the xcr's? are they puncture resistant because i do occasionally come across stuff that could easily pop a tire but i usually avoid it but going at a higher speed i might not be able to do that . but this is not my main priority
I have them, they fit, and grab earth like crazy!!!!
~Brian
does anyone know how they do at high speed such a 60-75 range?

They are no different than factory meats at high speeds.
They will churn up the earth!!!
~Brian
so the front tires have no unusual handling at higher speed?
I haven't noticed anything unusual.
~Brian
k thanks
flynbyou do you have the xcr's or holeshots?
ITP is the brand, Holeshot XCR is the model.

I've been very pleased with them.

XCR's are made by holeshot. What Brian said.
sorry i meant to say gncc's :'(
I had the XCR fronts and did not like them, they seems to push more than I liked.
sorry but im really new to this four wheeler thing ???
what do you mean by they push

The side walls of the fronts flex to much creating body roll in the corners and a pushing condition (Front end slide).
Aaron
Not really, I will turn and the front end seems to try to keep pushing foward. They dont bite nearly as hard as the razr2 fronts.
i am thinking about getting the gncc's instead because of their ability to self clean well
I believe that the GNCC's are my next tire.
yeah if and when you get them let me know how they are please
currently i dont even have a four wheeler so there is no rush :)
what do you think the best combination of front and back tires would be then preddy?
razr2 and gncc's possibly
id get razr 2 on all 4s
what kind of terrain you ride calex
I'm running the GNCC's up front and the XCR's in the back. The GNCC's REALLLLLY bite in the dirt for awesome traction!
When racing I run GNCCs all the way around. When I'm trail riding I run Razrs. Major diffrence in hook up, I'd love to run the GNCCs all the time but I think I'd wear them to slicks too fast and they ain't cheap
yeah i hear that. its worse when you only make 240 a month like me

Aaron
thanks but id rather get the best seeing as i only ride once a week so they will last a fairly good time depending on how i ride

My bro ran Kenda's all around his quad on his 250x. They were really good tires actually, took a lot of abuse on all terrains. and held up nicely!
how do you think they compare to itp gncc's performance wise
I can't really compare the 2 since it was on 2 different machines..
Raptor 700 vs Honda 250x
Comparing the stock radials though on the 250 to the kenda's it was NIGHT AND DAY. Before we'd get in just bit of mud and they spin and you'd get stuck, got the kenda MX'ers on the back,a nd it threw the crap and hooked up like no tomorrow!
ok but just a guess how do you think they would compare to itp gncc's on a rapt0r 660
Guys have been running Kenda Knarly rears and Claw fronts for Racing around here, seem to do really good

The MX series Kendas rubber was for sure a bit stifer than the rubber on the GNCC's I have on my raptor. I think hook up wise. the GNCC's would win. But longevity, the MX's would last longer.
what would be the best terrain for kenda mx's. i ride soft/hard dirt, hills, and occasionally trails with mud
The MX tires are a mixed terain tire.
do you think they would be good for what i do? also what ply are they
IMO I think they'd be a great tire for your application keeping $ in mind. They are a 6 ply in the rear 4 ply in the front.
ok that sounds great
do you know if they will fit onto the stock wheels or not
also i can not find them in my chaparral catalog do you think you could give me a link to them

1+ Couldn't agree more. When I burn my Razrs off, the Knarly rears and Claw fronts are going on

do you know the stock wheel dimensions for a raptor 660 also?

thanks again!
what are some good cheap wheels? i looked at several itp and douglas that were cheap and looked to be well made
The cheapest "well-made" wheels will be from Douglas (I recently priced some out).
otherwise your best bet may be finding a stock set of rims.
do you thikn that douglas .160's would be good

I like playing it safe with rims especially on the trails .190 for me
PS the stockers are pretty strong, so if you can find some used ones cheap, snag them.
Aaron
i like the holeshot hd's.....they take tons of abuse and haven't punctured one yet....
how do the hd's perform in dirt.
My bro has HD's on his new 400ex. to me.. my honest opinion. in dirt they are awesome. But they to me are just "general" tires. Made to last a long time and have less than par-mediocre traction. The XCR's are a little bit softer compound which will wear out faster not sure what kind of timeline. But the grip they have is 2nd to none.
so krandall what would you recommend the kendals or itp hd. i am thinking kendals because of the lower price
My $.02 would be for the Kenda's, the ITP HS HD's are almost the same $$$ as the ITP GNCCs ::)
yep i think we once again came back to the same conclusion. i think im going to stick with kendals. also aaron could you answer my question under this
I would agree. The traction the Knarly's have is almost the same as the HD's and GNCC and are about $30 a tire cheaper. They are all heavy tires
another two cents. I have the Kenda Klaw XCR. Cheap, but I haven't had a problem with traction. They are wearing very well, considering we have been blasting down gravel roads alot. I am just a novice though.

Question under this???
Aaron
maybe i should have said post the intake one
Go to Kendas web sight and they have all the info you need. I am using ITP HD,s now and will switch to Kendas soon because the Hd,s are a rough ride on the pavement. They vibrate and shake like crazy on the road, in the dirt no problem. But where we ride we have to hit the pavement for 30 to 40 miles on occasion and i want to try somthing else to see if I can get a smoother ride. The ITP HD,s have worn like iron for us with only one flat for two Raptors in 3 years.

mine are fine on the road ???
only complaint is heavy
Yep the are heavy as a mofu. But strong. On the OTHER forum there was a big disscussion on the HD,s and pavement and vibration. I love the tires just hate the bouncing around on the road. Glad yours are working out OK are they new maybe they made some changes. I ran into the owner of I-10 Yamaha in Baja and he said they had some complaints about the HD,s and felt it had somthing to do with the seam lamination?? I do not know but I would prefer to stay with a proven tire if the problem is solved as they are tough as nails.

actully nails are tougher :'( :'( :'( :'( some how got one all the way through the tread and into the tire but i pulled it out and it doesnt leak or anything but besides being heavy amazing tire.
I have OMF beadlocks and rode a rear HD flat for about 30 miles in Baja. Did not want to repair it until I got to a store that sold beer!!!!!!!! 3 beers a couple plugs and we were on our way with no damage to the tire.

now thats what i like to hear
omf beadlocks and hd's musta been a heavy ass combo ???
Yea but strong!!!!! Baja beating strong. Baja is like a animal just waiting to eat you. You gotta stay at the top of the food chain Strong quads are usually heavy quads when it comes to desert riding.
darkside94
what tires did you go with?
You like them?
i still dont have a four wheeler yet :'(
i should be getting one hope fully by the end of the summer but i will be getting knarly xc rears and kenda klaw xc fronts. im hopin ill be the gettin a predator ive been lookin at i just need to talk to my parents and bro(financier) ;)
Good luck darkside
thanks man
let me know if you get some new tires how they run i would really like to konw
I'll say it again kenda XCR's are a great and cheap all around tire. I am more than satisfied with mine.
yea i cant wait to get a four wheeler
i love to tinker with stuff and mod stuff and make it go faster :grin_nod:
i love to ride i dont see why i didnt decide to do this earlier
I was thinking about some HD's, I know they are heavy but tires don't last long on the Raptor. To much tire spin . . .
i was lookin at hds but kenda is just the right price for me
The Kenda is a good tire.
