Alumminum/steal frame ala Raptor 700

That seems real heavy seeing they were around 360 before.. maybe that was dry weight.

Gas (2.6 gallons) ~16.9lbs

Oil (2.3 quarts)~1.8lbs

Antifreeze ( I'm guessing less than a gallon) ~ 7.5lbs

Total ~26.2LBS  ???

Corrected: thanks Darkside

Yeah, I'm not sure where this added weight is coming in. Anyone know what a rappy's wet weight is?

I know for sure off hand 396 is dry weight.

A friend of mine bought one from those guys you got your truck from.  He's not very happy, its been in the shop 4 times and he's only owned it for 3 months or so.

I bought the rappy brand spankin new. only prob to date. the stupid bullet connector. Sure they['ve upgraded a few things. But hell. knowing you're a pioneer 8) I'll take it!

keep in mind, the Raptor 700 was borrowed from the design of the YFZ (and improved in many areas)
and now the new YFZ is taking what was good on the 700 and stepping it up
so, it kinda is not the first year

I would not be scared to buy one

will I?

not sure yet, I like my YFZ

Still no reverse :confused:You'd think they would have added that.

reverse has no place on the race track, the yfz is a race quad, and now the YFZ450R is even more for race

coming off my 660, I reached for reverse allot only to find it wasn't there
but you get used to it, you really don't miss it much after you adjust your self

and Brad...
I like the looks better too!

To bad only about 40% of people who buy them will ever race them. I think the other 60% would enjoy the option of having reverse.

well then they should consider that when they buy it, or get a kfx if they really want a race quad. thats why they made the raptor, its made for trails, and guess what? its got reverse!

Title: Re: New YFZ 450R
Post by: RR34 on September 22, 2008, 06:41:32 PM
its not the FI that bugs me. just the design. its basically a mx raptor. no joke. same frame design and look around the headlights, raptor style flares. all its missing is vents in the hood. ???
Title: Re: New YFZ 450R
Post by: exentix on September 22, 2008, 06:43:31 PM
well the headlights were off the yfz originally werent they? and i think its cool lol i like the new seat and the soft plastic stuff on the side
Title: Re: New YFZ 450R
Post by: RR34 on September 22, 2008, 06:51:59 PM
seat= quadracer style. its the flares around the headlights im talking about. i guess overall i can just sayim "disappointed" with the new design. though im sure it rides like a dream  ;)
Title: Re: New YFZ 450R
Post by: exentix on September 22, 2008, 06:53:29 PM
so the only thing you dont like is the fender flares? uhh can you say laker plastics?  id prolly just hack em anyway...

yea they have sweet stock shocks, id kill for them on my 350 lol

i would imagine so due to emissions hippies.   though how come all the other " new gen" race quads can have uncorked exhausts?

and why the fu*k would they throw that awful black piece of shit on this new quad? for christs sake put on a damn aluminum muffler already and put a quiet core in it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yea just think about this. the yfz and honda run equal to all these new fangled quads in the races. which proves to me the quad there riding doesnt really mean shit, its all about which mfg. *buys* the best race team. Look at honda in the mx standings. the top ten is almost always dominated by hondas. and hondas is very behind in the tech department much like the former yfz. which thus proves me thesis. its all about the rider, not the quad. it doesnt matter which one of these beasts you have. (unless you have a suzuki then you blow)....

It's like NASCAR boys.   It may say Chevy on the hood, but there's maybe four bolts on the whole damn race car that you could go to your dealeship and buy.  Rider ofcourse is a difference maker, but so are builders
