any mods? half throttle could be the needle position. Or, you have an air leak in the intake boot both causing a lean condition. The 01 660's had that problem. Especially early in production. I had one :) I had zip ties in there helping hold it on.

you could try choking it to see if it changes.

carb rebuild maybe.

i took it back out to ride after awhile and i tried the choke while i was riding and it wanted to die so i don't think it's the choke it doe's have an aftermarket aluminum air box with a hole that is 4 and 1/16th by 2 and 9/16th and a uni filter

did you check the jetting after putting the airbox on? you might just need to bump up your jet size. or move the needle clip down.

that might make it worse if you are running stock sized jets.

How long ago did you purchase the quad?  Is this problem new or have you had it for a while, or since you bought the quad?  When/how did this happen?  Did it sit for any period of time before this happened or did it just stop running right in the middle of a ride one day?

What jetting are you running, what modifications do you have?

what would the parking brake have to do with it?

Because the parking brake has a limiter, designed to kick in if you have the parking brake on, to keep you from trying to drive around with the parking brake on.  Yours was out of adjustment, therefore thinking the brake was on when it wasn't and needed to be adjusted.  Or you were trying to ride it with the parking brake on.
