well, check this shit out! so I was on my way out the door, and the fucking dick head calls and says "well I got a call from a guy last night after I agreed to sell it to your for 750$ and he'll give me 950$ so I'm going to sell it to him"

Then, He just reposted the ad and tryed to talk shit about $ in it because he never sold it, or maybe didn't have a buyer lined up, just trying to rip me off. . I told him my girl is buying it, we need a bike for her. So he is a shit talking punk. FERK him, here is the ad. He broke a verbal contract, FERK him. So I sent a text laughing at him offering him even less for being a dick! lol

Got there and the bike was a junker so I didn't buy it, 300 miles and it was no where near as nice as the kid said...Clutch felt like it was going out slipping a bit, didnt' run smooth, spray painted plastics, tape on the levers.

Got to see randy and his wife, it was awesome seeing him! and great meeting lydia! she's way to cool for him! lol

Good news though, went on craigs list last night, Found a 93 RM 125 in st cloud, which is on my way home,, I told him about the other bike and this guy said he wouldn't do that to me, the plastics are great, the bike runs awesome, all stock, clutch is perfect,. Sooooo he's off at 5 and i can look at it then, so i'm going to stick around here today (big lake) and check it out tonight...
hope that it's worth it.

ok, so just got off the phone with this guy, 94 yz 125, rebuilt in 07, needs chain and sprocket, decent shape. 600$, I can pick it up on my way home...order the parts and have it up and running asap... I don't think I'm going to stop in st cloud and look at the RM...cuz he wants 750 firm for a 93 RM 125 that needs chain and sprocket also, only thing it has is new tires... I will say one thing, after test riding that yellow/black RM from the above pics, a 125 doesn't have near the power i remember when I was younger. lol. I even think since my girl is so good on the raptor she could be fine on a 250, but she can't touch the ground for crap so she didn't want on, oh well, we can always upgrade her later.

here is the yz

yup.
I remember 125's as having a lot more power than they do now..................
Nothing to do with weighing twice as much now as when I rode them more regularly of course.

Now my mates CR500, that has some grunt!!!

Good luck with the bike

always loved the smaller blue-smokes, great on trails & stuff cos they're so small & light to throw around.
Hope she enjoys the riding!

Can anyone help me? So I notice one of the bolts on the head leaks a little coolant, would this be from a blown head gasket? Maybe the stud is broke or something? It didn't feel loose.    I think it's an easy enough fix if so, looks pretty simple. I need to find out what the torq specs are, need to order a manual.
Title: Re: New bike!
Post by: dragonz on May 18, 2009, 01:29:10 AM
Head gasket possible, but possibly the bolt where the leak is has a copper gasket or o-ring under it.
Either pretty common on 2-strokes.
Clean & anneal the copper gasket, or replace it, or if o-ring, replace.

Not a bad idea to pull the top end down all the same on any 2nd hand 2-stroke

The torque settings are pretty low on these things 30-40lb from memory.
If you're going to check the gaskets out, buy a set of rings, check out the piston clearance too.
They are cheap things to replace (relative to a 4 stroke) & will make a big difference to the longevity of the motor.

One other thing (from Personal experience)
Replace the reeds annually
These motors are case-reed induction, the reeds can break due to the constant stress from flexing every induction cycle.
Buy some boysen reeds.
When they brake, they don't screw up your motor the same way.

I pulled that nut off and the washer was bent, it wasn't copper just a normal washer. So I put a new one one and no more leaks. sweeet! I talked to a guy ata shop and next week we are going to bring it in and he is going to clean the carb and check the reeds. Otherwise it's running pretty good, I ran some seafoam through it and changed the tranny oil and we went for a ride last night and it was running nice, just not as crisp as it should be. still some hesitation and slight bogging.
