Title: eew =/
Post by: exentix on August 22, 2008, 11:11:46 AM
so yesterday i decided to head to my local dealership and look at some quads and such... they had a new o8 yfz and the guy said to go ahead and sit on whatever we wanted so i popped a squat on it... im only 5'6" and the thing felt too small for me! it was extremely narrow and felt really wierd. so i went to the kfx450 sitting next to it. it had the same narrow feel to it but for some reason it didnt feel as cramped as the yfz. the seat on the yfz was alot softer but the kfx was more comfortable if that makes sense... not trying to bash the yfz at all but i now know what people mean when they say that they feel cramped on one.

they also had a sweet freakin 08 r-6 that was yellow and had black flames on it. it was extremely sharp looking and now ive determined that when i can, im getting one

my buddies KFX is nice(08 all blacked out :grin_nod: ), but still cramped for me (Spoiled by Raptor).  The seat is hard as FERK, but I was standing on it most of the time anyway.  The KFX is ultra nimble IMO, even more so than the YFZ.  It also jumps level and is flickable mid air.  I'm not overly impressed with the power in three mod form (Dasa, Fuel Atv intake, PC3), and I haven't seen a Cam that makes much of an overall improvement to make a 4th mod worth while.

Overall It's a great bike, and until Yamaha gets off there asses on putting FI on the YFZ, it's a great trail and track bike.

is that what you do on Kyle?

I feel the same about the yfz, feels too small and cramped for this old guy. Uncomfortable on my back. Might be fixed with some high bend bars?

most people buy a +1 stem regardless of height for some reason. It's just my personal preference.

and i feel soooo comfortable on it

maybe that was it... it wasnt necessarily that i felt cramped just like hunched over or something wierd... its hard to explain but im sure a bigger stem wouldnt hurt at all

i gotta admit i feel pretty big on my yfz compared to the 350. but the good thing about that is i feel like i have a lot more control of the yfz even though its 10x faster. im about 6'1" now and still feel comfortable as hell on my yfz with stock bend flexx

the guy didnt know how to make a max hp pull, he gradually built up throttle instead of whailing on it and killin the engine... most other guys with the same stuff get around 70rwhp tho

the tune was awesome but he didnt know how to do the max hp stuff... it ruined his brand new gncc's and we overheated the dyno before the raptor

well that doesnt sound like a good dyno experience then ???

i actually think a 450 wouldnt bo good for you because of how you ride

probably not but maybe cas they have better suspension and thats the thing i wish i had more of

and no the whole dyno thing was BAD... except for the tune. and it was 2 hrs away  :(

i meant more of a woods riding thing, 450's dont like that and i know you right leg wont either

yea but it cant be too much worse than my 350 i swear i almost got tossed a few times, especially when i flat landed a 8-10inch deep puddle in 6th gear

the suspension will be better, but i meant things like heat and stalling

yea thats always true but i ride with predators sometimes, and i dont think anything overheats faster than them lol
