Gas can, What should I do?
« on: June 01, 2008, 10:05:50 PM »
Ok guys so I have a bit of a dilema. I live in hot as hell Phoenix, Az. My problem is, where should I store my gas can. This is the situation, I bought a 5 gallon (self venting cheap-o can) from Target. Well, let me just say first of all it is not self venting. I have been storing it in my garage and it just swells up likes it going to explode (because of course it is not venting like it should). Then if I go and loosen the cap a lil to let it vent, all it does is smell real bad like gas in my garage (where I start my two trucks every day). I dont have a bag yard shed or anything like that to put it in and like I said Im in Az where it is 110 degrees in the Summer. Can I leave it in the garage? Or should I leave it at least in the shade in the backyard? I dont know, I just dont want it to explode and my house goes up in flames. Any suggestions would help, thanks guys, Sunny!

Dump the gas in your truck & leave the gas can empty until you need Rappy gas.
Best to store gas in metal containers if possible

+1

Leaving the gas cap removed is a no no. All it takes is a spark. Pulling a cord out of an outlet in the garage could be disaster.

I would store it in a shadded area for sure for the time being.
