Peels did you just get a new house? I know you painted your ass off. Do NOT go there as you wife will beat your ass if you start cleaning parts in thr kitchen. This is a man survival thing.!!

LOL  house is 5 years old, but I wouldn't let her paint brand new dry wall. It was all sprayed white when we moved in, I finally caved this year. Painting done.  Good advice Fire!

Ok now for the serious stuff. Most filter oils and fuel contaminations contain Petro chemicals which most have been known to cause cancer and other problems. Children are very reactive to petro chemicals, pesticides and such. I know it seems like a easy fix for cleaning your filter but I would not use the same machine that you wash your dishes in as there are cases of kids getting sick from cross exposure like clothing washing machines. There was a case of a fire fighter that washed some of his dirty work clothes that had residual pesticides on them. They then washed their babys clothes in the same washer not thinking about residual toxins. The warning we recieved stated that the baby died from a reaction to the pesticide that was residual in the washer. Better safe than sorry. IMO.

For foam filters use No Toil. Its safe for the environment and even has washer instructions on the cleaning bottle.

still thinking bad idea, takes a lot of cleaning to remove petroleum products.  I wash mine in the sink, set it next to heater vent during winter, or window sill in the summer.
